5. Pricing compression with higher MSRP / CPO cars. Many CPOs are listing only a few Ks higher and likely sells just above the asking of this car

FYI, in the United States if you buy from a non-Porsche dealer (not a private sale), you cannot CPO the car. I purchased from an Audi dealer - still under VAG - and Porsche USA was empathetic but also emphatic that there was no way I could CPO the car.

Having said that, if the car appears to be in good condition (check underneath it, for sure!) you can buy and have Porsche do a post purchase inspection. I did that for a very low cost and they took care of a few open recalls at the same visit. Absent damage from crash or poor driving, your new car warranty should cover repairs if anything stops working properly.

Mine never gave me any issues, but it seems like a reasonable cost for some comfort, given the model's history.

Porsche dealer will have to do a deep inspection check before they can CPO or extend the warranty. This is not an automatic pay and extend event.

Are you sure about that? I was under impression you could extend warranty without inspection, as long as it was still in the original warranty period. It kind of makes sense, as if porsche dealer did an inspection and found problems, then they'd be fixed under warranty anyway.

I asked for extended warranty for the Cayenne that was still under warranty. The dealer said we need to do an inspection in order to quote. They did the inspection and then provided me a quote. This may differ from dealer to dealer or region.

I ended up with a Porsche platinum extended warranty. I called and emailed literally 9 dealerships, mostly recommended ones on this forum and rennlist and only heard back from the 2 dealerships in my area. I also checked out fidelity extended warranty. The dealership closest to me was significantly better priced than the other (but still more than fidelity) so I think it is worth your while to shop around. I was surprised how few I heard back from though. Feel free to DM me if you need more details.

I think as long as the car is under "New Car Warranty" which this car is.. one can purchase an official extended warranty from Porsche
