Any thoughts, insights, predictions or certainties if Porsche will provide their 2026 EV's and e-Hybrids with NACS Port as Standard Equipment?

NACS port on the passenger side to align with parking at Tesla supercharger locations.
And bring the CCS combo over to the drivers side. Best of both worlds.

Pure speculation as I don’t think anything has been confirmed for details or timing.

Of course the first step in all this would be to get VW group vehicles in a partnership to use the NACS adapter at super chargers. Don’t hold your breath on any standard hardware until that agreement has been inked.

And once the adapter is available, why do you need the standard hardware at all? $250 add on to a $120+k vehicle is not a concern.

2026 would surprise me…2028 would not be a surprise to me personally

NACS requires new charging harness from the charge port to the onboard charger - and the inputs to the onboard charger now need to accept AC/DC power and de-multiplex it inside the onboard charger…

VW/Audi/Porsche supply chain logistics tend to take 3+ years to have new components - and I'm also pretty sure this is the sort of thing that will be shared across VW/Audi/Porsche/Scount/VAG in general - Porsche is not driving this schedule - it's going to be universal across VAG - they also need to provide a NACS residential EVSE which is more supply chain nonsense for them to deal with - and what to do with Hybrid's is also a question…

it makes no difference honestly - as you'll need adapters in North American regardless of what type of Port comes native on your EV…

I don't want to own a Taycan manufactured the first year existing CCS1 charge ports get replaced by NACS ports.

Not sure what you mean by this? VW Group signed on just like all the other brands. It’s much further back in the line though. Tesla is rolling out access in order of when the brands signed. (And it’s all much slower since most of the Supercharger team was laid off after everyone signed on.)

But VW Group could still move ahead with plans to change the port even if network access is delayed — I would hope they’re not reliant on Tesla to provide the reverse CCS1 → NACS adapter in the same way everyone seems to have to wait on Tesla for the NACS → CCS1 adapter.

Hah. I totally agree.

This is why I was pondering updating to a MY25 I figured it would take me easily to J1.2.2 … but I will let Porsche sit for a while, they are selling so much or have so much money it seems they aren’t hungry to make a deal yet.

I was always surprised they put the CCS combo on the passenger side so it is more inconvenient for the driver when charging at an EA station. In England, Australia & Hong Kong where they drive on the other side it makes sense but in the US the driver side port is only good for L1/L2 charging anyway which can be done from either side.
It makes sense they put the CCS port on the driver side and the NACS port on the passenger side. All that said. I doubt Porsche will do any of this, including making the NACS port standard or even an option. The VW group wants you to pay the extortion level charge rates dictated by EA once free charging period expires.
I’ll be surprised if the VW group ever allows it’s vehicles to use the Tesla Supercharger network. I’m not going to hold my breath on that one….

"The VW group wants you to pay the extortion level charge rates dictated by EA once free charging period expires."
I think that's the market-determined charge rates set by EA in competition with other DCFC networks.

"I’ll be surprised if the VW group ever allows it’s vehicles to use the Tesla Supercharger network."
The issue is whether Tesla will allow VAG vehicles to use the Supercharger network.
We already can of course for select V3 stations with MagicDocks plus all V4 stations.
At issue are the remaining V3 stations that lack MagicDocks (and perhaps that lack adjacent V2 stations, since some key V2+V3 combined stations in New England are still Tesla-exclusive).
VAG has already signaled its interest in obtaining that access, and supposedly some sort of agreement is in place with Tesla for eventual access.

existing announced plans for 2025 access to superchargers - if this never comes to pass I can not puchase and will sell my VW/Audi/Porsche EV's - I purchased the Macan EV based on this press release - if they reneg I'll be selling it ASAP and purchase an EV from a company that has supercharger access.

I'm not sure the type of charging port one has is VW's biggest issue…I anticipate few if any issues.

If it's at the same spot where current DC port is, the cable on Tesla superchargers is still not long enough to reach the port in most superchargers I've been to, even V4 ones which have longer cable than v3.

the Macan is good to go - so I would expect it to go native NACS "first" - the post .2 Taycan (the next major refresh) will probably do two things
  1. move the charging port
  2. go Native NACS in North America
until the next major Taycan refresh I would be unsurprised if:
  • the current Taycan gen1/gen2 will keep the CCS1 port in North America
  • the port will remain "awkward" for Superchargers
  • will require an adapter
2028/2030 will refresh the Taycan (probably) and then we'll get a new port location and Native NACS ports in North America

YMMV my $0.02

What was limiting you from bringing the car close enough? The dispenser itself, or a curb / parking bollard in the way?
I was able to get my Mach-E close enough to V3 dispensers by pulling the nose over the curb, as long as no bollards were installed. The adapter itself helps with a few more inches of extension.

I have yet to visit any magic dock locations in the Taycan.

Most of the time it's the curb - it's high, and the dispenser is a bit far back. Every time it's just like 3 inches short...
