Just purchased Taycan CT (MY21) from Porsche dealer - driving home thought the air con was a bit powerful, so tried to turn off and heat up the cabin. Turns out that the heater isn't working ...surely Porsche's famous 111 point check on all cars would pick these things up?

I understand that this is likely to be an HV heater issue - if it is, any idea how long it's likely to take to fix.

Not a great start to Taycan ownership....
Not sure if you are aware but heat in a option that needs to be paid for in the taycan! ;)

joking aside, I am in the same boat with my 23 gts I just received about 1.5-2 weeks ago, and living in CO I can only drive it later in the day when it warms up. End of month i bring it to the dealer to get fixed.

Didn't the 23 model get an upgraded HV heater as a matter of course? I'm worried that even if fixed it could still fail....

Yep - I explained patiently to them that this was not correct and they should check their own website!

Got another advisor who was a little more helpful - explained that it took a while for my smart meter to connect to their system which was the reason for the issue.

All now sorted - but just another 'fly in the ointment' of switching to EV....!
You'll get used to it soon enough.....
And then you'll drive past the petrol station with the fumes and smelly pump handles, and you'll look at the queue of people waiting to hand over wads of cash - and you realise another benefit of ev ownership. ✌

Approx 3p/mile takes some beating - especially for a car with 'supercar' looks and speed...

My MY22 4CT (with the preemptive heater replacement last year) had no heat Wednesday morning (with a "Cooling system error" message) as I was driving up north for some cold hiking.

So I turned around after dropping off our daughter at school, transferred all my cargo to my MY22 A6ar and drove along rather pleasantly even if nowhere near the level of Taycan driver engagement.

I was then faced with the prospect of visiting a gas station for the first time in ... a long time.
I remembered all the many options, even near the rural base of Mt Washington.
Although I could have used my credit card, I used the gas chain's card instead, which was accepted immediately, upon which I added 510 miles in a hundred seconds (which I indeed timed out of curiosity).

As much as I do love charging at home (and other aspects of EV ownership, both my Taycan and my wife's i4 M50), New England non-proprietary public charging is woefully inadequate, whereas I've never experienced a queue of people handing over wads of cash at gas/petrol stations or anything other than the most minor and brief inconvenience (with the one memorable exception of a long wait years ago at New Jersey turnpike rest stop, but that is memorable mainly because it is the sole exception, as the wait would have been rather routine at many non-proprietary DCFC stations in the Northeast).

I recall somewhere that someone stated the inconvenience of charging was off-set by the knowledge that you've always got a 'full tank' in the morning (albeit a slightly small tank) and a warm car waiting for you...

Yes, the cabin heating feature is a joy in winter (especially when coming off a cold mountain wearing only lycra) and the full tank is another bonus -- just so long as staying within the range for daytrips. Otherwise, being at the mercy at public charging in some U.S. regions can more than offset all the advantages.

I have a mileage tracker in my car so I ensure I invoice clients for correct mileage when travelling on business. I noted that I only did around 25 trips over 230 miles last year, so I'm hoping to generally avoid public charging. That said - I did a quick charge at a station when driving the new car home (to see how it works) and it was relatively painless - 10 mins at Ionity gave me about 20% increase to battery. No queues and station was empty and located next to a hotel where I could use the facilities. If this is how it will be, then all good!

I had the same experience. Are you using "Auto" on the panel? Try to dial it back one or two clicks down from Auto and see if that resolves the problem. I was told the Auto is very quiet and you may not hear it operating.

I've had the heating system servo and HV heater fail in my previous car (on different occasions). When the HV Heater failed the preheat function would also error "function not available at this time" , when the servo failed the preheat worked minus hot air.

Yep - got the same "function not available" error when trying to preheat...

Car being picked up on Monday - hopefully a quick fix.

To also add to my increasing frustration, I'm trying to get signed up for Octopus Go. Checked the website for compatible chargers, went with approved type. Tried to get onto the tariff, which requires vehicle reg to be typed in, only to generate an error. Rang Octopus to be informed that they don't support Porsche cars!
You should have been given a copy of the 111 point check report. I can’t imagine aircon +heater are not on the list. What else did they miss?
You could remind the dealer of your entitlement to a full refund within 30 days of taking delivery -
https://www.themotorombudsman.org/knowledge-base/what-is-the-consumer-rights-act

Protect yourself.

Did they provide a Battery State of Health report? Unless there’s been a recent change, unlike VW/Audi, Porsche don’t by default.

You’ll find Octopus advice and intelligent charging unreliable. The Taycan interface is supported. But if you have been supplied with the Porsche Mobile Charger you can just use that via the 32a commando cable that should be in the bag. Set up OI with that as the charger. There’s several threads here about Octopus issues and work around. Lots of support available here.

The dealer will usually set up My Porsche with you at handover. Seek their help.

Thanks - that's really helpful. I have requested the 111 check point report - it was never offered when I took ownership. The fact that they signed off the car when it was patently not appropriate to do so does raise a number of red flags...

Just dug up my 111 point report. Function and condition of Air Con, Heating and Ventilation are all In scope.

The Octopus compatible chargers list isn’t always reliable. Similarly their car integration. Unless you have local energy storage, Solar or want the house to take advantage of additional cheap periods, the car scheduler and a dumb charger is enough.
