After 9 Cells replaced, Taycan back at dealership with "Red Circle of Death"

It would be interesting to know if dealer service with trained battery tech on-site means HV battery modules can be replaced without Porsche fly-in battery doctor being present. A Porsche PR article some years ago seemed to imply that the 3rd level specialist was required.

Edited: My dealer service has tech with HV battery tech training/certification completed a couple years ago. He needs hands-on with one more battery repair while Porsche battery specialist is present in order to meet criteria for repairs without Porsche specialist traveling in.

Yes, I was told I will no longer see the Battery Technician from Atlanta because there will be a trained Battery Technician on site. This would mean they will be able to replace HV battery modules without the fly-in Battery M.D.

I hope my experience is not typical. I'm having 3 cells replaced. My wait time has exceeded two months, including diagnostic time and parts acquisition time and repair time.

I have no complaints about the dealer or about Porsche, though, as they have thus far given me a loaner (and second one, and third one) for the entire time.

However, expanding this out to the entire industry, that's just not possible on a wide scale.

I am hoping my wait time is shorter but expecting the same. My parts were ordered but the dealer had no ETA on when they will arrive.

Update: After two and half months I got my car back from service. They diagnosed 9 cells needed to be replaced under warranty.

Unfortunately I had the car for about a month and received the "red circle of death" a couple days ago. The car has been at the dealer since and have not heard back yet as to what the problem is.

Disappointing to say the least.....

Update. One of the cells in the battery needs to be replaced and is coming from Germany. Unfortunately, my dealer has no update on how long it will take to receive the battery.

Has anyone heard anything on lead times this month?

First time this happend to mine, it was in the shop for 2.5 months.

I had 3 times a module failure, twice they just replaced a module, which is a useless fix on an unstable battery pack. Now I got a new pack! I start wondering how Prosche can finance all these warrenty fixes...

The cells were all done at Redwood City (formerly Carlson) Porsche. They apparently have a certified tech than can replace cells

Update: The dealership is indicating cell #12 is bad and needs to be replaced. Waiting guidance from Porsche Germany on next steps. I asked for a full battery replacement since they have already replaced 9 cells. We shall see what happens.....

I agree a full battery replacement is warranted. These cell fixes are not solutions in my eyes just bandaids.

Porsche Brooklyn has had my car for 5 months trying to trouble shoot what was ultimately revealed to be 3 bad cells. They went back and forth with PNA to no avail, then escalated to PAG in Germany. They refused to replace the battery pack, tried about 4 other fixes that didn’t work. I couldn’t lemon the car as I purchased it as a CPO so I have retained counsel and am letting them handle it from here.

i will never buy another Porsche again after this experience. Terrible service, responsiveness and support across the board, particular from PNA and PAG. Horrible experience.

The dealership came back and said they found 2 bad cells and is waiting for Porsche Germany to respond. Hopefully they replace the whole battery as this the second set of cells that have gone bad in the last 4 months

Update: either the dealer is horrible at working with porsche in Germany or a full new battery is hard to come by. Either way, I am receiving two new replacement cells from Germany. Expecting to be in this base Macan loaner for 2 - 3 months

got my car back. Working so far, tongue only charged once.

Porsche NA offered me $1400 for my troubles lol

If I wasn’t done with Porsche before, I most certainly am now.
