Got this email today from Porsche and thought – oh, they must have improved their new subscription pricing;

Clicked the link .... Nope!

"Now even more attractive" must mean something different in Stuttgart! The only benefit of the new plan seems to be if you were using Porsche Charing Lounges or Dealerships.

Otherwise, everything is a price increase.
It's probably a global email, due to adjustment in most markets. In switzerland it got quite a bit cheaper. 17 chf instead of 25, and rates cheaper.

Of course, not cheaper than the old Porsche charging service taycan, but that is no longer avaliable here

Price drops make the mail make more sense. No such drop for us here in Ireland – and by the looks of – across the Eurozone.

They'll be prising the legacy plan out of my hands on Jan 7, 2026!

How did you even achieve this? In Swiss they canceled all legacy subs and forced people to have no sub or to re-sub with new prices.

I signed up to it in January 2023. and they seem happy to honour it until the end of the initial 3 year free period.

I've seen no pressure to accept these new plans/contracts here.

I received the same email here in Holland and all charging options have reduced by 10 euro cents per kw.

I received the mail here in France as well. I have not compared the actual kWh charges but the monthly subscription fees have been reduced and they actually showed how much.

’’It also seems like Ionity as well as BMW charging are adjusting their pricing from the same day, 15 January 2025.

How ever I think it really is an ignorant move to just send out mails the same day as the changes take place? No advance communications at all. Porsche seem to have lost courtesy to their customers and that is a development that saddens me!

Yeah, I missed the monthly subscription fee drop in the email. Any reduction is to be welcomed. I do intend in subscribing to the service in ownership year 4 and have budgeted accordingly. The yearly fee has dropped by a €100.

I m in CH and like Tigerbalm I will still have the old plan until Oct 2026, unless I opt for the new plus one. For those with an existing plan transitioning to the Plus the monthly fixed fee is waived until original end of the "older" plan.

In real life for Switzerland, if I m correct, it makes little difference when it comes to per Kwh rates. Ionity stays the same, you can go to Dealers for the same price as ionity. On "third party" dc stations the per-minute component is gone (and price per kwh is higher) but at a 350kw station charging 50 kwh in 25 mins (?) really makes no difference in total price.

Weird, they forced me to get the new one. But I was on monthly payment contract, so likely that's why. Bad call on my end...

You did not miss out. When you’re on a subscription, and review the two options , they always say 0.00. Once you’re out, it will say £29.99 and £9.99 (uk example). Mine expired two weeks ago and yesterday I got a email with reduced fee. The plus was £13,99 and non plus £0.00 with a slight higher charge rate. I went with the free as I never charge outside or needed to.

If you go for the free non plus (after the three years free have finished), what becomes the price per kwh for ionity?

I still have the "original" one too and will be keeping that one as I solely use it for Ionity. But when it runs out I will consider the new charging service. Especially the lower AC charge price is great when on european roadtrips. Destination chargers are typically more annoying to activate without a RFID card so it's very welcomed that the pricing has come down to a more decent level.

Any idea which fast charging brands (AC) are included / part of this?

I'm in the same boat: also in CH; also with another 1.5 year on the original service.

It seems the "Charging Service", short, will be similar to our Charging Service Taycan, with the additional monthly free.

IonitySubscription cost
Porsche Charging Service Taycan0.34CHF/kWhfree for 3 years
Porsche Charging Servicenope!8CHF/month = 96CHF/an
Porsche Charging Service Plus0.39CHF/kWh16.99CHF/month = 204CHF/year if taken before 31/12/2025;
but after? 26CHF/month = 312CHF/year
Ionity contactless0,79CHF/kWh0
Ionity Passport Motion0,56CHF/kWh6CHF/month = 72CHF/year
Ionity Passport Power0,46CHF/kWh12CHF/month = 144CHF/year
Tesla0,66CHF/kWh
Tesla subscription0,46CHF/kWh100CHF/year

Given the few times I use Ionity (only when getting in the Alps passes), I'll probably just cancel the Porsche Charging Service Taycan when it expires. I mostly use Tesla; and I'll pay the Ionity full price the few times I'll need it (or take a Ionity passport for a few months). Having the charging status in the app is not worth hundreds of CHF each year.

Ionity passports might be interesting in the rest of Europe (0.33€/kWh + 12€/month); not so much in Switzerland.

Ionity and other fast chargers are DC, not AC.
  • For me, Ionity costs only 0,34CHF/kWh in the original service, which is nice.
  • But other supported fast chargers cost 0.38CHF/kWh + 0.35CHF/min - much less interesting.
    At 150kW, that's like at least 0.52CHF/kWh
    At 250kW, that's at least 0,46CHF/kWh
Other supported providers in Europe include: GoFast, Shell, Move Mobility... You'll find them by exploring Porsche app/map/charging.
