So my GTS has InnoDrive as part of my adaptive cruise... When coming to a new speed limit I notice in the left cluster that the car asks if I want to 'accept new limit?'. Question is, how do I accept the limit? Its not clear what to press.

You must have yours set to adapt the cruise speed to the road speed limit, right? - I don't have that enabled and I'm never asked to accept any change in limit.

Never seen that - maybe it is a regulation-driven "improvement" in the newer model. Mine just automatically adjusts when the speed limit changes. With Innodrive it does this correctly so you are travelling at the target speed when you pass the sign (vs Tesla which illegally doesn't start braking until you pass the sign). I get a blue speed limit when it is in the process of adjusting or getting ready for a speed limit change. No user input required.

You have to move the cruise stalk upwards as said above. using it this way you avoid the automatic setting, which can read an incorrect speed sign and slam the brakes or accelerate wildly.

There is a setting in the car for this feature.

What do people think about InnoDrive? I don’t have it myself and wonder if it is effective? ?

I like it on long motorway driving. But I never let the Inno DrIve adjust speed automatically. It does a reasonable job at lane keeping and adjust speed with ACC depending on traffic!

Next Innodrive discussion to break loose. I get my pop-corn ?
It is really a personal thing wheter you like it or not. And also a geographic issue.
Americans seem to be feeling uncomfy more often than Europeans.
I use Innodrive a lot and think, Porsche has a good and relaxed system that is quite helpful most of the time.

I enable Innodrive most of the time. It gives a second pair of eyes on the road. It will slow me for speed limit changes (and is right 99% of the time); it will save my life (under some but not all circumstances) if I am distracted or fall asleep or whatever.

On long highway drives it takes quite a bit of the strain - I can just let it do the steering and I can focus on observation.

I used Tesla Autopilot a lot too. Compared with the Tesla approach, Innodrive is much more subtle (Tesla grabs control of the wheel); and it is a better partner with the driver (eg Innodrive lets you choose the line you want to drive on and adjust it as you wish, vs Tesla fixing you to its choice of where you are in the lane).

However Innodrive "sees" a lot fewer cues than Tesla AP meaning that it has fewer false positives ("phantom braking") but also might save lives slightly less often. A typical example would be a pedestrian walking towards the edge of the road. Tesla would brake, Innodrive would not.

With the Innodrive package (when factory installed) you also get cross-traffic detection at intersections - again something that adds little value in usual traffic BUT might save your life one day.

I thought the whole idea of inno drive was to do all the speed changes with a view to being a semi autonomous driverless aid? ?

Probably correct and what Porsche had intended to do.

From my experience though it falls very short of that goal.

A few examples. Here in France the legal speed limit on motorways are 130 km/h in dry wether. But many stretches have since at least 5 years + had a reduction of this limit along the routes along Provence, sometimes 110 km/h and a lot with 90 km/h, due to local regulation (accident prone, pollution, noise restrictions etc). That should all be included in the navigators map data.
However I frequently have found big gaps in that data and the car will suggest to accelerate to the national speed limit of 130 km/h!
Ot if there is a temporary speed limit of 70 km/h on a short stretch due to road works, maintenance etc. Once the sign for ending this limit is shown, the car will read that through the camera and guess what, the national speed limit is read from the car’s database and it accelerates back up to 130 km/h!
I have also had several instances where driving on a motorway, the car’s camera have read a speed limit on a road bridge of 50 km/h and slammed the brakes.

I have seen and experienced far too many instances like this in many countries to even try to use Innodrive Speed adaption any longer.

The assistance with lane keeping and traffic speed adaption on long routes is great, but that is all I trust.

Well thanks for that. It doesn’t sound very ‘innovative’ when it comes to adapting to changed conditions. Seems like it has a way to go before it’s completely reliable. ??

Well I have found it’s speed limit recognition significantly more reliable than my BMW (which used to read the signs on backs of trucks) or Tesla (which didnt read road signs, just the database ) — it is certainly not perfect as the previous posting showed, but in a country where there are zillions of 20 mph speed limits in little villages, it has probably saved me from quite a few speeding tickets.

Of course: if Innodrive adapts wrong all the time, it's exhaustng.

Those few times that happens to me I adjust manually at the stick. No big deal.
but it seems different from country to country.
