So...
I've gone from an RS e-tron GT to an RSQ8 then an M8 Comp Gran Coupe before landing in the Taycan Turbo S. A few weeks ago I decided on making the transition into the iconic 911 Turbo S.
Each time I went from car to car up until now I felt there were distinct appropriate comparisons. Power to power in the e-tron to Taycan. Ride quality and torque in the M8 to Taycan. It felt appropriate to weigh one against the other for perspective since the cars are mostly similar. Even the RSQ8 felt appropriate to compare.
I went into the 911 with the same expectation - comparing to the Taycan as though there would be improvement and/or degradation in various features, etc.
Boy was I wrong. This is apples and oranges, where apples are freaking delicious and oranges are soooo juicy and tasty.
The 911 Turbo S is a vicious beast. I just had the stage 1 tune and exhaust (akrapovic) upgrade done and it's bonkers. Most surprising is the stage 1 reduces the turbo lag so the thing just pulls and pulls and pulls. Steering feel is tighter and you can see why it's so legendary in the 911. Ride is stiffer, sportier, and obviously in a 2 door coupe you feel like you're jumping around the roads with more athleticism. The sound differences are obvious and not worth comparing.
Spec for spec, both cars are killer. Burmester, heated/cooled seats, night vision, parking, surround camera, etc, etc, etc.
One of the things I've loved the most about getting to know the 911 so far is how it's reinforced how the Taycan Turbo S was, and is, in a league all its own. The electric power, the ride quality, the handling. Wow. When I went from the other cars I felt like each next was a step up. I don't feel that way. It's just a different category and boy was the Taycan awesome. I feel like if the Taycan and the 911 were passing each other in the hallway, they'd nod with appreciation.
I feel like I've now owned the best of two amazing worlds. (Other than the GT3RS I'm told, but I want to act like a dick at a traffic light in town by jamming it. I don't want to track it. lol)
If I were pointing one obvious difference, however, is that I'm noticing a lot more people gesturing me with the thumbs up on the road in the 911. I thought the color was understated, but perhaps I was wrong. HAHA
