I'll be hanging up my charging cable for a wee while and to scratch that itch I had to go back to ICE...but not just any ICE, I had to get a new 911 (992.2) Carrera. She's currently in my garage probably wondering what that PMCC is doing on the wall (still) looking stunning in slate grey neo.

Sad to see my GTS ST go (the absolute best car I have ever owned and 100% trouble free) but to protect my "investment" I had to get on the 911 ladder.

Will I ever go back to an EV? Most definitely yes and likely will replace my wife's Macan T with a Macan EV next year if EV residuals are looking better (yes depreciation matters a lot to me).

Really enjoyed being on this forum for the past 4 years or so (more friendly than the Macan EV one which I regularly stalk) and meeting many characters albeit virtually. Big shout out to @daveo4EV, @f1eng and @tigerbalm for their words or wisdom, fascinating stories and epic Nordic adventures.

I'll probably keep reading the posts on this forum to keep abreast of the trials and tribulations of the Taycan but for now, be safe and that's all folks!

sad to see you go - but like where you're ending up - ICE vs. EV is hard - there are pros/cons most definitely - I'm loving my Macan EV so far and the wife loves it also - and I'm spending quality time with my GT3 this upcoming weekend - so it's nice to have both…

I'll look forward to running into you where ever you pop up!!! You will be missed!

I always remember @W1NGE rule: when taking delivery of Taycan, do not leave the dealer lot until mirror LED is green and you can connect to car with mobile app.

Have loads of fun!
I am old and whilst the depreciation is a major pain I just keep cars I like a long time so hopefully I will be able to just keep enjoying it, it may well be my last car.
I kept a PHEV Prius due to reliability concerns but haven't needed it but haven't used my 2 seat convertible since I got the Taycan either. Here's hoping for continued reliability!

Thanks for all your help over the years w1nge. Greatly appreciated it when I first got my Taycan.

You should stick around.
I sold my Taycan 6 months ago, but still visit this forum.

Only catching up on this thread now @W1NGE – amazing we're making the transition to 911 around the same time and for close enough similar reasons (ICE itch needing a scratch).

I for sure am going to miss those massive yellow carbon ceramic discs and callipers. Totally unnecessary but fab looking.

Would love to see a pic of the Slate Grey Neo. I especially like the "flat" non-metalic colours.

You can't give up Taycan. You're the worldwide resource for 22kw on-board charger faults & repairs.

That was surprising to hear but I wish you all the best! The 992.2 Carrera is a great choice. Unfortunately you might soon get on the ladder to upgrade to the next or second next model.

I am getting to old now, to be able to get in and out of the 911 in a graceful way, so that option is gone for me. I need cars with a higher seating position, even my Taycan is quite low.

But I just can not bring myself to get near any kind of SUV or CUV, EV or not, with the driving dynamics. So maybe the new Audi A6 etron might be an alternative?

Happy driving with your 992!

Sounds like you need a Taycan with Porsche Active Ride:
  • Easy entry: when this function is activated, as soon as a door is opened, the body raises automatically by 55 millimetres. This makes it easier to get in and out. When the door closes, the Taycan lowers back down to the previous level.

Well how about NO!

In a separate thread I have just shown how fed up I now am with Porsche! My car has been plagued by the one issue after the other during the 5 years I have had it. I have always come back to it because how it drives and handles, but not it will just go!

Looking also at the excellent report that @ct14garage provided, I can see that my garage queen has been in Porsche repair and checks for 348 days in this period. Battery failure, several heater failures, 12 volt issues, water ingress in passenger compartment, charger failure and soft brakes after service twice! And when looking back at all these issues I only had a loaner for about 15 days during all these issues. And one was a clapped out 7 year old Audi A1! That is quality service a la Porsche that!

The Taycan has had many more failures and been off the road much more than a 2010 Aston Martin DB9. And they are known for a multitude of Bespoke Features.

Actually I'm pushing 63 and find it a doddle to get in and out of the 992 18-way seats compared to the Taycan (design flaw from the get go) due to a non ill placed b-pillar.
