They'll get rid off it. With the Chinese market gone, they will go back to become a small brand where they only survive by using anything the VW corp has on offer! They got wiped by the Chinese competition.

I got a Volvo EX90, waiting for the Dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-Configuration plugged into early next year, so I get at least some working self driving assist. The one now is horrendous.

I recently test drove a Huawei Maextro S800. Gosh, that is hot self driving stuff. First time in my life I interacted with a real robot! If they offer this as a SUV next year, I dump my Taycan and buy one.
What else would a Chinese say.

Porsche survived the rise of the Japanese and Korean car manufacturers before the Chinese. Remember they're not competing on technology; their selling points are the name, the heritage, the driving dynamics and how it makes you feel when you slide into the seat and hit the pedal. It will be a long time before anyone (outside China) can throw their keys on the table and proudly boast "I drive a BYD".
You completely miss the mark here!

Porsche got big with the Chinese market and now is hard struggeling because of the Chinese market. Chinese people don't define by brand but by tech and price. If a new brand with hot tech comes and cost a lot of money, people buy it happily. The then don't "throw that keys on the table" anymore, because these cars come without keys. Doors open with facial recognition or other hot AI stuff. You guys are so behind the curve, like Porsche is...

Chinese want hot tech!

Porsche had hot tech with driving dynamics, performance, etc. But Chinese EVs now have more power, same chassis, bigger battery, better range, faster charging and a navi map which actually works and is much better to use on a larger screens.

You get into a new Taycan and all you see is the past. Why would a Chinese buy???

You may well be completely correct regarding the Chinese market but I think you completely missed my point, too.

If you want tech: fine, go with whatever shiny bling you fancy - Porsche is not a technology company. Just look at the market for 20, 30, 40 year old 911s which people want to own and drive - no keyless entry, no bluetooth, no touch-screens, ...

This is the arrogant Porsche language!

During the pandemic, I went to a Audi shop, just after they started production of the Q4 Etron in China. I had to ask and they said, they have one on the second floor, but it's packed in and there is no light. Nobody wants to see EVs from Audi so they only have ICE in the showroom downstairs. It shows where their business is today.

Why the obsession with what the Chinese want? Why the obsession with the latest tech?

Ask porsche. After all, it is the biggest car market in the world. They seem quite interested in it. Surely they will be able to tell you why a car manufacturer is obsessed with the biggest car market in the world.

Why the obsession with tech? Because most normal people can’t justify a car worth 250.000 having less processing power than their espresso maker worth 150$; or taking longer to start Spotify than a 20$ Google home mini.
Chinese are very focused on value for the money, not brand names.

Exactly! And they love, love tech, particularly when it turns into great service!

Would be great to have the best tech in a Porsche, but I don’t buy them thinking I’ll get a Tesla experience. I buy for the design, the driving experience, craftsmanship and brand. Porsche might benefit from getting back to core principles - imagine an EV platform that hides the damn SW/electronics and gives a traditional driving experience with just the new powertrain (quiet/quick/smooth). I like the driving characteristics of an EV - give me one with buttons/knobs/dials and NO screens. I would pay more to manually roll up my windows, adjust my mirrors, move my seat and put a key in the door to unlock.

Japanese dominate car market due to reliability not technology, Porsche almost went bankrupt back in early 1990s. They adopted Japanese lean manufacturing techniques and improve reliabilities on the new models.

Chinese is dominating the technology, not just the fancy apps and entertainment system. They are dominating the core EV infrastructure, battery, drive unit, suspension, manufacturing, price and so on.

I think, if Porsche would keep the reliability level as they run with the combustion cars the situation would be now totally different with the Taycan. Porsche people would happily accept slower PCM and lower level software toys.
