Dealer called me on mine, not surprisingly nothing found on the car. But Porsche engineering had some questions around charging. Saw something interesting... I had the car plugged in and the PMCC was talking to something over port 443 the whole time but there is no record of the charge on the PMCC log. I’m betting the PMCC kept the car alive and didn’t actually charge the main battery eventually just running down the 12v.

You don't need to drive around and waste valuable range. When I turn my car on I see the small battery go from 13v to 13.4 in a matter of seconds before I even start driving so I assume it is being charged as long as the car is ON.
I left the car switched on and open on my drive, with the key on the passenger seat, but came back to find it had gone to “sleep” and the 12V battery had not charged at all.

Engage D and drive for a sec and then stay inside. That is no different than stopping at a traffic light.

Big battery charges little battery when you’re driving.

EDIT: Sorry misread your post. Yes, if your big battery is near dead, and driving isn’t an option, then that’s def a catch 22 scenario.

The car will still go to sleep with a key in the car and it in park after 30min. My technique on a Chevy Bolt EV is to put in neutral and set parking brake, but that's not possible on Taycan, so you must chalk tires if on a slope and try nutral to keep car from shutting down.

30 mins should be more than enough to juice up the 12v battery.

I talked to PCNA yesterday. They said they are aware of the problem and that it is a software issue. The fix is scheduled to be released 1st quarter 2021.

Got the same info on my side as well. Now I don't know if that's a car update or an update for the PMCC.

It must be a car update because many Taycans have died on 3rd party chargers or just parked without even being plugged in a charger.

A visit to the dealer will likely be required and I hope they would also update and fix other software issues (i.e PCM) at the same time.

I'm most definitely expecting it to be a car update. PMCC is easy to update in the field, but I don't think there is a widespread problem there. Perhaps this update will be combined with feature updates to match some of what MY2021 cars are getting.

Me too...

I think most of the "gravity" of the observations and analysis brings us to the orbit of a PCM (or other electronics) which isn't shutting down after it has been woken up to change charging parameters (remotely or via a timer)...

I'll place actual money on that...
