Don't think that's possible, or that any service shop would take that job. I highly doubt most services even can, and why would they not buy oem if they can?My understanding of the complaint is that the installed onboard charger was aftermarket.
Who knows.
The charger is internal. What gets plugged into the wall is not a charger. Words are important.
Porsche is only trying to make it easier for people who can’t understand technical terms. Dumb it down for the masses. What you show is not a charger.![]()

The NTHSA Complaint is written by "the masses", as you call it.Porsche is only trying to make it easier for people who can’t understand technical terms. Dumb it down for the masses. What you show is not a charger.
this report makes no sense…
What if you were dumb (rich) enough to install it at home in the over priced fancy housing thing? I don't think it needs to be in the car.I've said this before...do NOT sell your Porsche EVSE even though we all know it's suboptimal.
It is considered part of the car and should go in with your service visits, as they do recall replacements on it. And when you sell/trade it will be expected to be there.
There is no aftermarket onboard charger for the Taycan. Not a thing. Does not exist. So definitely not.My understanding of the complaint is that the installed onboard charger was aftermarket.
Who knows.
It’s removable. What if you were dumb (rich) enough to install it at home in the over priced fancy housing thing? I don't think it needs to be in the car.
