Your dealer and Porsche are not friends!$2500 at Porsche Collection in Miami. I’m def paying the Miami tax.
To late for thatIf you look at the maintenance schedule, this is a straight rip off. It's checking a bunch of things and changing the brake fluid (possibly the cabin air filter). Since most of the braking is done by regen, I don't even know why brake fluid only lasts 2 years. Perhaps they are accounting for the fast that you're tracking your car, but probably only 0.1% of the owners do.
Save yourself some money, don't pay $2500. change the cabin air filter on your own, and take it to an independent shop to inspect the rest.
Brake fluid's hygroscopic, so changing on a time basis makes sense. And as a safety critical part I have no issue with them changing it.If you look at the maintenance schedule, this is a straight rip off. Yes, but every two years?Brake fluid's hygroscopic, so changing on a time basis makes sense. And as a safety critical part I have no issue with them changing it.
And seeing that price makes me feel better about the £830 I'm being quoted here in the UK. Must check the schedule though to see precisely what's being done. The 2yr was sub £500...
Have a scooch round on the internet and report back...the most common reference is every 2yrs or 24k-30k miles. It's 2yrs or 20k miles on Porsches.Yes, but every two years?
I don’t know of another car with that kinda maintenance schedule.
Ford is 60,000 miles- https://www.jclewis.com/blog/ford-maintenance-schedule-by-mileage-what-to-expect-at-30k60k100k
I doubt Ford is using some magic brake fluid that’s better. That and they only charge like $150-200 for the service.
This seems more like a cash grab to keep the service center busy.
Like telling me to throw out a disposable razor every week. Everyone knows you can shave for months on one!(only kinda kidding).
I scooched around the internet first because I was curious.Have a scooch round on the internet and report back...the most common reference is every 2yrs or 24k-30k miles. It's 20k miles on Porsches.
Personally I don't think mileage is the right metric to use....
On fast cars the brakes are getting worked harder, and are also that bit more importantYes, the Taycan doesn't use it's hydraulic brakes as much, but when it does need them, it's trying to bring 2.3k tonnes to a halt.
As for charge rates, I don't like them either. But if you want lower charge rates, don't buy a Porsche
I'm more pissy about the other service aspects of EVs that manufacturers seem to be clinging to.
e.g what is the real difference between a "minor" and a "major" service on a Taycan that prompts the price to be 50% more...
If I was driving round like Miss Daisy all the time in a car that weight 1 tonne, never going over 40mph I might be with you.....
But it also doesn’t seem to make much of a difference if you wait significantly longer.
