I want to put a bike rack on the back of my Taycan Cross Turismo.
Porsche have a lovely, if riotously expensive, one.
Would be perfect, however my CT has not got the bike rack preparation kit on it (the tube holders and elec outlet behind rear bumper grills).

I’m told that if this was not spec’d at configuration time, it’s impossible to retrofit it. The car is forever destined to be bike rack free.

Does anyone know if there is a way to have the preparation kit retro fitted?

Or has anyone found another safe way to transport 2x e-bikes on a CT?

Thanks

Shame on Porsche for not making this a standard fit item - no towbar and a ridiculously complicated and overpriced carrier if you have the prep work in place!

As far as I'm aware it cannot be retro fitted so roof rails (if you don't have these then almost game over as these can't be retro fitted either) with the Thule kit is a way forward. No rails, then there's a sucker based system - Seasucker - is for you.

Thanks W1NGE
Have to agree that it’s shocking that Porsche don’t just put the prep kit as standard.
Further, if the dealer had flagged to me that I needed to put the prep kit on my spec just in case I or any future owner ever wanted to carry bikes.
Still - ultimately my bad.
I do have the roof rails so could explore that option, but fear e-bikes might be too heavy.
Appreciate your help though.

I'm putting together my order for a 2025 CT. My SA checked with his area trainer and confirmed that the "rear bicycle carrier preparation (order no. NG1)" is now standard on 2025 Taycans in the U.S. (Or CTs anyway, not 100% sure about the sedan.)

I checked and "NG1" does in fact appear amidst the collection of other codes in the URL of the configurator page for my build. So fingers crossed...

Is or was the prep standard on USA bound GTS Sport Turismos? Online configurator shows to tick a box for GTS ST whereas no box to tick for CT:

Can anybody help me here? It seems illogical that the in the USA the CT ALWAYS has bike carrier prep and the ST has it as a no cost option. When I look at ST build sheets they never choose the no cost bike carrier prep option. Why not choose the option? Come on!

I gotta make a purchase choice on a used/CPO vehicle in the next week or so and the pickings are slim! Vehicle will be mine for max 18 months.

It is illogical, but that's the reality.

NG1 option code was only configurable on the US GTS Sport Turismo for 2025+ cars. It required a selection on the configurator.

For 2022-2024 Sport Turismos they are not configured nor configurable. Only the Cross Turismos come with NG1 as standard.

However, I retrofitted the NG1 brackets onto my 2023 GTS Sport Turismo. It requires a new black fascia, all in about $400 in parts.

Also note, most of us are running these aftermarket bars. These bars are sold out. There is an attempt to do a new group buy, and from time to time a pre-owned set is available on the forums. I mentioned this because you said that you may only have the car for about a year and just understand that unless you purchased the Porsche bike rack, you may not have any immediate use even if you retrofit the brackets.

I have a MY23 ST with NG1 and I have the Porsche carrier.
We're talking about the United States cars which had this inability to configure NG1
