After five and a half years without major trouble my luck has come to an end. Yesterday I hopped in the car in my garage only to be met with the "Electrical system error" red circle of death. Tried a couple restart cycles and even let the car sleep on it to no avail. So I spent much of today having it sent by flatbed to my local dealership, the same one where I bought the car. While it's there they will also address the seven (!) open recalls they claim I have.

They were nice enough to give me a Cayenne to drive in the meantime, although I couldn't understand why it wouldn't go into gear. Turns out you actually have to start ICE engines. If anyone is interested I'll keep this thread updated with what I learn.

Wonder if any of the recalls could’ve prevented the battery error.

Keep us posted as we are all subject to the same risk, however, it looks like the recalls were not up to date, with ARB6/ARB7 intended to alert the driver with in car message of potential cell failure. Also, safe to assume, you do not have an OBD to measure and trend your SoH or cell health values, that would have shown that something bad is about to happen.

I have the exact same car - 2020 4S+ Gentian Blue, and have kept up to date on all recalls & upgrades. Still got the red circle last november with no warning. Was able to reset the car so it was drivable again, but took it straight to the dealer naturally. Initial diagnose was 12 faulty cells. After a week with a loaner the car was ready to be picked up (they work fast!). At the end they replaced 16 cells in total. Has been all good so far, and I drive it a lot - so fingers crossed.

Side note; was considering trading it up at the dealer before the 5 year warranty was up, but with the rate of depreciation here it is a tough call to make.

2023 GTS and have the 3rd battery failure in 25 months, technical guidance is to replace 2 modules which I have said I am not happy with. I have informed them that unless the whole battery is replaced I am calling the vehicle defective given the first failure was just 5 weeks after purchase. Now in a holding pattern with the dealer and Porsche customer relations on what happens next, my experience with Porsche CR has been beyond shocking and has been the final nail in the confidence coffin for me. Hope you get sorted and will update on response from Porsche; it will be interesting to see what value they put on 13K miles in over 2 years ..... https://www.themotorombudsman.org/knowledge/what-to-do-about-a-new-car-problem/

My MY 2022 RWD suffered the same a couple of weeks ago. I got out and locked the car, and it was OK when I got back in again 10 minuted later. It's off the the OPC next week.

The thing I find disconcerting is that you get no forewarning this was going to happen. With an ICE car, you usually get plenty of notice something is going to happen - an oil pressure light, a gearbox whine, some tapping sound. But the Taycan just gives up. Not very Porsche.

Sucks to say, but you're gonna be driving that Cayenne for a while.
I'm afraid you're right. I've been around this forum a long time; I'm setting in for a long slog.

Doubtful. These are only the recalls that have appeared in the last seven or eight months. I had all the other open recall campaigns completed mid last-year.

LOL, I had the exact same thing this morning with a Panamera loaner. It fakes being on and then it says it won't shift into gear because you're a dummy for not pressing the brake pedal...

Porsche have really locked in to a minimalist methodology when it comes to customer service and technical solutions. A good business doesn’t waste money obviously, but these guys clearly don’t want to do a single thing over the absolute minimum. They must have calculated it‘s financially efficient, no fun being a customer though.

Good luck 🤞
