This is what you do while you wait:

- Get the Euro clear side markers from Suncoast. What you see is the Euro version, so US cars come with very ugly called Amber side markers. Recommended approach is to let your PPF installer swap them as the need to come off anyway to tuck the film (one screw DYI).

- Puddle Lights to be had from here, but I only replace the fronts, and you choose the projection graphic. Much better and mind you cheaper than OEM. Super easy DYI.

- I also got from Amazon and asked PPF shop to apply screen protectors on all screens. I can only see this to be necessary for the center climate as it is easy to damage it being so low, and the rear climate as the space is pretty tight so easily scratchable.

- Other things you can look up on Suncoast such as color side key blades, key pouch (I like it so the key can be easily stored in the crease to the left of the bottom front storage space with perfect location to communicate with the car), valve caps (gloss black with colored logo would match your car), etc.

Definitely saw some nice aftermarket puddle lights. The GTS trim appears to have blacked out side markers in the picture. I can’t quite tell, but they don’t look orange. Correct me if I’m wrong or I’ll aftermarket them.
The side markers are orange in the US, but it's relatively easy to switch them and some forum members have got Porsche Service to do it for them. I have clear one from this place, but the smoked ones might look really nice: https://flat6motorsports.com/products/flat-6-motorsports-clear-or-smoked-led-side-markers-taycan

Thought you might be interested in this… it’s a relatively hot day in Northern California today, so I turned on the matte VLC. This is a picture through it staring directly at the sun at 3 PM.

Looks good. Appreciate the real life view. No second guessing, it’s on the list. I’m a big glasses guy and always have been, whilst some people aren’t. Mention this because I’m conscious of sun and direct light on me. All that to say it makes total sense for me and probably why I considered it a must have in my initial spec. Looks like it diffused the sun very well.

The standard roof does not provide "direct light" - all the UV is filtered out and there's a massive tint on it as well as a full on reflective film for the infrared (same as the thermal insulated glass in the cabin).

Even in the clouded form of the VLC you're probably looking at a 10% improvement over the standard at best at a massive cost.
It's in fact so underwhelming that they had to park the car in desert sun with the AC off for ages to get any data supporting the improvement.

With the AC on I'm sure there will be near zero actual difference. But if you like to draw pretty shapes on your roof for the rear passengers for 3k (does not affect the driver in any way) then go right ahead :D

I can justify some cost vs. others. Some like it and some don’t. Some probably don’t think the Burmester is worth it either, but the Bose was an absolute joke after having a Burmester in the MB, yet people swear it’s good enough. But as you can see, it’s par for the course with me. I’ll make some real life post when it arrives from post sides of the fence, but I resonate with many of the folks who like the VLC roof is all. Draw away!

It's your car and you can spec whatever you want.
But this thing is a gimmick. A pretty one, but a gimmick.

It basically makes no difference to the driver compared to a normal glass roof apart from looking pretty and being cool.

And well, in the end we do buy Taycans in a large part because they are cool. So, you're not getting any pushback on getting a fancy feature - but no need to pretend like it makes significant differences to how hot the car gets in normal use :)

Maybe if you park it in the sun all day and don't pre-condition it, then it'll be a tad less horrible, but apart from that it's still a button with which to draw pretty things on the sunroof that you can not see from the driver position.

Will your passengers be very impressed? Absolutely. As for you, after a few times you'll likely forget what setting it's in :)
My loaner GTS had VLC, I've went through the settings once, and that's it. If I didn't have kids I'd spec a metal roof (I am aware you probably can't do that in the US) - the only reason I got the panoramic roof is because the kids love it in the back.

I don't even think about it, so they'll never know. Hell, I keep PAR's bunny hop entrance off, so no one really knows what's up with my car.

Today I was hot enough to turn on the matte and I did feel cooler. Perhaps psychosomatic, but it was the first time I valued VLC since I got the car... and it was only 80F. I'll hold full judgement until it's 100F.

Man, that feature is amazing for me for getting in and out, but I am fairly tall with all my height in my legs.
I think the usability of the PAR pop-up feature is directly proportional to the amount of height / leg to body ratio.

I'm only 5' 9" and I have a not so great lower back... it's just easier for me to get in and out without it... gotta plop over the side bolster :p

I have thought about keeping it on to make it work a bit harder... if it's going to fail, get it to fail while I have a warranty.

exactly. Well said. There’s a coolness factor. A uniqueness factor. My kiddo loved the open roof. Practicality is for the beholder, otherwise I’d get a Prius or stick with 19s. Do we ever really need anything extra? Sometimes it’s justified based on how much/hard we work to get such toys, specs, etc. Awesome feedback.

Makes perfect sense, I am 6' 2" in freedom units with legs that belong on a 6' 4" average dude, so I have to do like a full squat each time when it's in the "lowered" position that I keep it in (still 10mm higher than the sedan in normal).

My ritual in every car is:
1. Move the reach of the steering wheel all the way to me.
2. Move the driver's seat back until I can reach the steering wheel properly... which on the Taycan is almost all the way back.

Being tall is actually a downside in most things we do these days in life, unless you play basketball or something.
