I agree with most if not all of this video - if you consider yourself a car person this is worth a watch.

Having owned 2 Model's (P85 and P85D) and several other Tesla's - the rest of the industry is in many many ways still playing catch up…

2015, my P85D was a widely acknowledged unicorn here in Germany.
A fantastic new way of driving.
There was literally nothing, that could keep up when zooming away.

When I bought my Model S all my friends said to me that it was a white elephant and would be rendered immobile within a year or two when Tesla went bust. I am so glad I pushed ahead with it -- now on our third Tesla and second Taycan -- the Model S was the one that proved EVs could not only be like a normal car, but actually a BETTER car.

Tesla definitely created and sustained the EV market. However, they are now playing catch up. 400v cars, 10 year old products, the customer is your beta tester and crash test dummy, and a company strategy of not wanting to be a car company... hard pass.

That's a lot of anti-Tesla (Musk) talking points with half truths. Their software still leads the industry. All their components are integrated, unlikely most other car manufacturers. Their self driving tech is still the best out there. and their cars are not 10 years old. The underlying tech is always being updated. I have owned a 20' model Y and a 22' model Y, and my parents bought a 26' Model Y. The difference between the years are substantial. They may feel similar as far as looks, especially the interior, but the suspension, driving feel, Noise, vibration, build quality have all increased immensely.

As much as I hate the looks of the cybertruck, it introduced 48v architecture, steer by wire, etc, that is not found in mainstream autos. Truth is Tesla has not been left behind despite what the media would like you to believe. I get that you may not like Tesla because of Elon, and that is your prerogative, but lets not pretend that Tesla is not innovating and resting on it laurels.

It’s sad when someone simply spouts anti-Tesla talking points with no real understanding of the situation.

Cammisa’s comments about the Model S are spot on and factually correct, regardless of what the Intarwebs’ peanut gallery may think/post. That’s why he prefaced the entire video with a warning against preconceived notions or opinions.

All i can remember is compromised packaging with tragic rear headroom, hilarious understeer, and dubious - bordering on dangerous - aluminum castings. Oh and consumer electronics grade laminated touchscreens, one of many instances of Tesla NIH culture.

Model S was novel in ways that are not central to what a car is. And has long been a dinosaur given the complacent absence of development.

Not sure what there is to celebrate here, other than it being a perfect symbol of the demise of Tesla.

No real understanding of the situation ...

Many Tesla proponents came to cars through Model S or Model 3, and have attempted to erect the bizarre tenets of this cult as a counter automotive culture.

The flacid attempts to dissociate the Tesla dumpster fire from Musk's proto fascist entreprises do not earn any respect from me.

I'm a hater, and I'm gonna hate. But honestly will you buy a car from a company that has outright stated they don't want to be a car company?

So your tenet is that Jason Cammisa doesn’t understand automobiles?? 🙄

The topics of the thread are the Model S’ impact on the automotive landscape and Tesla’s continual development of the car over its extended run.

Those topics are undeniable, regardless of any flaccid attempt to distract from them here.

it is not the first time that Cammisa does a Tesla informercial to clock YT minutes from fanboys. Replete with dad jokes.

If you fall for these arguments and lame arguments like the 5000/3000/3% parts argument, you got the content you deserve.

Meanwhile, the legacy automotive media has been virtually owned by the legacy manufacturers for years. Just look at their coverage of Porsche - a new review/test every week…

Pot, meet kettle.

This thread again a wonderful example, how polarizing Elon Musk ist. Right so.

I belonged to the first Model S owners in Germany and back than, it was a fantastic car and an absolute booster for e-mobility.

They still build cars that do a good job for non-car lovers, that want a reliable and simple daily.

Granted also, that Teslas vertical integration and their update-policy is still unequaled in the industry.

As I was almost a fan-boy around 2015-2020, I wouldn't consider buying a Tesla anymore since.

I think their price / performance is amongst the best, the 3 and Y performance versions embarrass far more expensive cars and are not the crap riding/handling badly screwed together cars they were at the early end if their life cycle.

Tesla product life cycle is clearly quite different from most, the 3 and Y platform is getting long in the tooth, but the continuous updating h/w and s/w is best in industry, can’t take that away from them IMO.
