Are there plans by VAG to keep manufacturing J1.1 motors as replacements or will you have to do DIY transplants from scrapped Taycans to keep it running after the motor blows?

There has been no evidence of blown motors unless you have it.

You can buy a lot of parts on eBay as some folks have done so on YouTube.

They're obliged to keep making key parts available for 10yrs after a model goes out of production.

Parts will likely be very expensive, so reclaimed parts will probably be the best value... But overall it's not something I'm worrying about.

As for the link....failures happen. 1 example. Haven't heard of any more, and you can bet large that if this was a systemic issue, we'd hear about it (battery modules, satnav software etc etc).

My 12 year old is converting a Classic Mini Woodman into an EV. 7 years from now if my engine blows, he can rebuild it and the car will be his. I'm not worried, though.

My plan for ANY of this out of warranty - battery, motor, etc - is salvage from a wreck.
Derek, slightly off topic, but do think there would be interest in having the forum develop a *section devoted 3rd party, independent repair shops*? I know of 2: one in London, UK and the other in North Carolina, the latter not specific to Taycans. But I have heard mention that other EV shops are springing up in the US. We could list shops as we hear of them and then invite members to post their experiences, doing so in a section designed for that purpose. I used a 3rd party shop for my 911 for several years and was quite pleased with results. there might be other sources of reliable information. Our local PCA is filled with gearheads who snear at electrics and has not been a good source, any source, of info on Taycan maintenance here.

This isn’t my forum :). I like the idea though. I don’t think Porsche is good at EV diagnosis and repair at all.

As I believe will these in Bolton
