I perfectly know what is chip. This could be possible for certain non vital modules.

Here is the original source which is a SERIOUS newspaper.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.st...8ba924c-135f-4332-b533-fcbe9b954c52._amp.html

So can you please continue to be nice and polite and stop having your superiority air when you disagree on something ?

Thank youuuuu ?
You seem offended.
It's not personal, it's about the statement.
I apologize if I've hurt your feelings.

On topic: you think I didn't run it through Google before I call it BS?
That article you are referring to is behind a payed subscription so I assume you have read the complete article and maybe you can post that here (if that's not too much trouble).
Until then, it's just BS.
As I stated before, Porsche doesn't deliver cars with incomplete or non-working control modules.
All modules are vital (it's how a modern CAN-bus works).
The article is the reason we are starting to guess what it means so it could be anything...
Still, putting fake chips or controle modules in brand new Porsches is just BS.
It just doesn't make any sense.
Sorry, it's my opinion.
Like said before, it could be lost in translation.
Meanwhile we're just guessing.
I'm not like that.
I like facts.

They are shipping cars with lack of functions?! I have not heard of this. My car is being produced in September.
See topic PORSHE TAYCAN TURBO missing electric steering wheel due to parts shortage? Really?
As a sum:
- Manual steering column out of electric
- No TPM sensors
- No 2nd key
- No charger
- No other (not so important) functions in the menu
Maybe some others.

Porsche tries to use the available semiconductors "eco" to be able to supply as much cars as possible.
The price of it: lack of functions that will be retrofitted later on with call backs by the service centers.
This is the way Porsche choose.

Other brands as Mercedes rather shut down production but not supplies imperfect cars.

On the other hand, with a good amount of luck up to September this issue disappears. But this is the less possible scenario.

WTF no charger?! Am I supposed to push the car after my first initial charge depletes?

I read the other thread, but it only mentions manual steering column And your other points which are not so essential.

Well, this is just a list (sum) about occurrent missing functions/equipments.
Somebody gets fully ok car, somebody without second key and charger, somebody without electric steering column.
It is absolutely randomly.
All together is a mess, because of no/late communication. According to my personal opinion it is not so nice facing with missing functions at delivery or later.
Communication is a disaster on it, the mentioned topic helps a lot.

Most articles I can find are not about removing functionality (e.g., the steering column example), but rather completing the manufacturing of vehicles with dummy/placeholder chips that are later replaced BEFORE delivery to customers. The cars are completed save one or two chips, and are stored waiting for the chips to arrive. This is in contrast to Mercedes, who chose to not make the cars in the first place. They are talking about a low couple of thousands.

(I speak German, this is not Google translation BS - in case anybody is wondering)

As somebody who's waiting for a car that may be impacted by this (they are talking about some sun sensor chip causing a 2-3 week delay at the port), I'm not particularly happy: instead of waiting for them to start making the car, I get to wait anyway, but my car is spending that time baking in the California sun and getting shit on by seagulls. (they wrap a lot but not all of the paint, and the sun hits the interior just fine). Retrofitting chips like that also has got to do wonders for quality. That's just great.

This article is indeed quite clear that the cars with placeholder electronics (“dummy chips”) will not be delivered as such to customers.

According to my dealer, my car is waiting (in the factory) for TPM only.
so, my understanding is, that they are not willing to ship uncompleted.

I saw a couple Taycans without the electronic steering column adjustment at the dealership yesterday. They were equipped with manual adjustment and the service tech told me how the "fix" would be applied. Sounds pretty straightforward. But previous reports that the column is adjusted at delivery and fixed in place until the chip arrives appears to be overstated or the factory is dealing with it differently now. All cars are arriving with chargers now - I had heard there was a short time when they weren't but came in about a week after the car. Some are arriving with one key, some with both. And regarding TPMS, those were previously being installed at ports if there were shortages during production. Evolving situation for sure - one thing I'd say is the sales associate who said the car was being held up in production due to TPMS chip shortage may have been making an assumption based on previous situation regarding port installation. Sales associates (dealerships in general) don't have much real information on what's happening in Zuffenhausen.
