Dear All,

I am just wondering if anyone of you did the battery health measurement in a porsche dealer and the objective is to see what is net capacity of the battery .
If you can attach form that Porsche they use and what are the crateria they have use for the test for short and long term measurement.
I hvae attached what i got from from 2 different dealer in my area which make me wonder how come 2 different forms which supposed to be for the same test which measurement of the battery health.
Thank you in advance .

Why so much redacted data?

One of the test results is almost 3 years old.

If the other is more recent then the measurement process and paperwork may have been updated.

I’ve had the test carried out in the last 2 months. My certificate represents that of the first screenshot.

First test showed %79 which is below %80 which you should apply the warranty and change the battery but the dealer refused to do so then the case went to court .
The court asked for anotner test in another dealer which they did and we got %85 , then another test showed %88 which i did not attach .
I felt something fishy.. how come after all this years the battery health of the battery goes up , that is why i am asking you guys if anyone have done the test and if you can kindly attach the form of test to compare.
I beleive porsche have the same system all over the world and they have the same guidlines and procedures for the test .

Appreicate the help guys . Thanks

Search the forums here... there is a procedure to rebalance the cells that might account for the differences you are seeing.

sure will dig it out later. Had the test done due to a temporary circle of death fault appearing in December then a large drop in range. Porsche said no issue with battery as it would have got highlighted in the software upgrade in Jan. Told me to drive it for another month to recalibrate. In March requested the test to be done at a charge to me which came back at 90%. By April had continuous circle of death faults. Has recently come back having new HV cells. Though today received Electrical fault error. So back in she goes!

Trying to get my money back for the test.

There are 3 'tests' for state of health (SoH).
1st - Do it yourself: use an On Board Diagnostic device and related software and read the SoH yourself.
2nd - 'Short test' done by dealer: uses PIWIS to read SoH.
3rd - 'Long test' done by dealer: a multi-day process using PIWIS in which the battery is fully charged, discharged almost completely, charged again, with 6.5 hours pauses between charge and discharges. That procedure is described in TSB linked in this post: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...-piwis-tester-july-19-2024.20795/#post-318572

The certificates you posted do not specify whether the result comes from a short test or a long test.
In my opinion it unlikely that a dealer provided you the results of a multi-day long test unless someone paid for it.

Several posts in this forum indicate that the results of the owner DIY SoH test and the dealer short tests were almost identical.

Be aware that voltage differences between cells and modules at a given state of charge can be important in determining whether HV modules might need to be replaced.
SoH is a "sort of" indicator for capacity but it does not indicate whether or not that battery might have modules potentially needing replacement.

The warranty does not apply unless the battery capacity falls below 70% during the 8 years. If the vehicle is less than 3 years old then it’s 80% during that first time period. This car looks to be a 2021

My (just sold) 2021 with 18K miles measured at 85% (via my own testing)..That was a little concerning but borderline acceptable...just sold it so no longer a worry

Check out your battery with an obd reader. Discharge the battery to less than 10% and look at the cell voltages (let it sit overnight prior to reading if you can). If the battery is bad, you'll see some of the cells with very different voltages, and you can show this to the dealer. If all the cell voltages are basically the same, then the battery is probably ok.

There is a +/- 5% margin for error for the test which might explain the variations between the last two tests.

Which Taycan do you have or a least confirm the battery - Performance or Performance Plus (I'm assuming the latter)?

What range are you typically seeing?

The car is 2021 (July) and my guess that this is a Model Year (MY) 20 car as MY21 did not ship until Sep / Oct 2021 (I had a MY21 4S PB+) delivered Nov'21.

80% applies to first 3 years (or 38,000 miles or 60,000 km) as mentioned by others which would have lapsed Jul 2024.

2nd test was performed 2023 (1st test is redacted) so why raise the queries now or am I missing something obvious?

Given the margin of error +/- 5% then the dealer had wriggle room to not perform any warranty action.

Why not create a table to make it simpler to follow the chronology here listing date of test, mileage and test result for all tests you have.

Reading the letter in post immediately above, it says preparing the HV battery (discharge, pause, recharge) can increase the accuracy of the calculation.
Then determination method = determination without preparation.

I conclude that the dealership used PIWIS to read and report the SoH value. It did not use the 'long test' method.
