Found my problem. The download link at the beginning of this thread did not work for some reason, so I thought it must be outdated. Found a github page instead and downloaded files from there. Turns out an important .JSON is missing there.

I tried the download link again tonight, it worked now and included the missing .JSON.

For everyone who might have my problems in the future: Make sure you have EV_BECM1982091_007.json. Everything else is a red herring. Using a VM is also completely fine.

I downloaded the version from page 1 and I do have the EV_BECM1982091_007.json in the Resources folder. However, the ENET dot stays red.

MapEV connects immediately, so I know my cable is good and connected solidly on both ends.

This is the sequence I do things in:

1. Laptop powered on
2. Connect ENET cable on car side
3. Connect ENET cable on laptop side
4. Turn on ignition
5. Launch tCAN-Pro

Any idea what the issue might be?

EDIT: I tried rebooting the laptop and various combinations of turning on the ignition after the app was launched, reconnecting the ENET cable on both ends while car was on and app running, and various other combinations, all to no avail.

Interestingly it worked on my Audi!
SoC on the car showed 86% but the tool shows 83.9, i guess that is normal

Tried connecting the car directly to my home network:

I get layer 1 connectivity, but it never picks up an IP from my DHCP server. Weird that MapEV works...

The ENET cable I got from ohptools.com/enet so I don't think that's the problem. Not sure what to try next... Maybe try another laptop that does NOT have MapEV installed. Maybe it does something funny with the Ethernet port? Btw, my laptop has an Ethernet port, I'm not using a USB dongle.

Switched to a different laptop and everything works. So I guess MapEV steps on the Ethernet port in a way that TCAN-PRO doesn't like.

At any rate, here's the result for my 2024 Turbo S that just passed 17k miles:

Your results look great.

When I looked at my battery, it seemed to me that it is when the battery is empty that you will see the greatest offset between cells.

There was also the guidance that when you fully empty the battery it will rebalance the cells and increase the range.

It doesn't increase the range, only the reading shows a (slightly) higher number.
There's a difference.
After a while it'll settle and it'll be the same as before (unless you've replaced at least 10 or more modules).

I beg to differ, when the batteries go through their re-balancing routine, it will increase the range if the batteries were out of balance.

From what I have seen, everyone that completed the routine has seen the range increase where their batteries were out of balance.

That's what I said, only the number goes up.
But did the actual range went up?
I've never seen someone who actually tested this.

Battery balancing is a well-known technique across many industrial and aviation applications to increase capacity.

For me I ran the battery down to 0 miles range, left it for a few hours and had a 5 mile range after re-balance.

I then rebalanced again and saw the range come back up to over 2 miles.

None of the above is particularly significant, but is what I saw.

My guessometer is so random with the time of year, ambient temperature and whether I have been driving on Motorways or Town and which way the wind is blowing, I cannot tell with certainty whether the range overall has increased, but my admittedly limited understanding of BMS and rebalancing tells me that you will have a greater range after a rebalance.

Rebalancing has only effect when a fair number of modules were replaced.
Just rebalancing existing modules without new or better modules has zero effect on actual range, only the number slightly changes like I said before.

Just a quick follow up to my scan I posted here on 7/26 (post #845). I just got back from a long trip and was at 17% SoC according to the dashboard. Did a quick scan and got this:

My original pic shows SoC of 85.9% and delta of 0.019V. The above pic shows SoC of 20.8% (which I'm assuming is the true SOC, not what the dash shows which is 17%). My concern is that the delta has increased to 0.043V.

So I decided to drive the car some more until the dash showed 7%, and I did another scan:

My delta has now increased to 0.100V. Is this normal behavior?

Car as a '24 and only has 18k miles on it.
