Someone in my area is selling their mahogany metallic 4S CT for 15% off while every other CT on the market is asking for over MSRP. You can't make this stuff up.
The long waitlist for a Taycan allocation has made me start looking at used markets. I mainly focus on private party ads as I find the asking prices a little bit more reasonable compared to dealers'. Right now for $135k - $140k, I can get a 2020 Turbo at 15% - 20% off MSRP, or a 2022 4S at...
@whitex said it pretty well.
The other thing that's not necessarily related to cost is that I'll have to settle for a dealer spec car if I want the tax credit. There have been discussions around whether signing a contract for an allocation in 2022 but taking delivery in 2023 still qualify but I...
For a brief moment after reading this news, I thought about buying a new Taycan from a dealer's inventory before the end of 2022 just to qualify for the tax credit.
However the more I think about it the more I realized the idea might not be as good as it seems. Imagine what will happen in 2023...
Looks like OP is also based in CA, where you don't get any tax credit for trade-in, meaning OP would always pay full tax on both the Turbo and the GTS.
That said, OP might not care :)
This made me think of something that might be dumb: why don't (US) dealers advertise their available allocations on their websites, just like their inventory? Include model, trim, build freeze date and estimated delivery date. Why do we have call each of them to find out?
Great write-up! Thanks for sharing.
While I certainly don't blame Lucid and MB for prioritizing drag coefficient/range, I personally don't mind sacrificing a little bit of range for a better exterior. IMHO Taycan just looks way better from the outside.
How's your experience with Stevens Creek? I have a deposit with them for a Taycan 4CT and am curious. My experience so far has been alright but it's obviously way too early to draw any conclusion.
The only question I'd ask myself is that given you want an ST, does the sedan meet your space/practicality needs? If so I'd take it.
Chalk is definitely a bonus at this point, as you pointed out.
