That "beaver" grill design is an example of something that has always puzzled me: How can someone walk into a meeting with an idea that is so obviously wrong and have everyone (or anyone) decide, "Yeah, that looks good to me"? I know it happens all the time, but still...
I prefer the look of the car with the lightweight aluminum roof so that's how I ordered mine. I suppose that reveals my thoughts on the matter. ;) Whatever floats your boat, though....
I'm glad you were able to resolve this; the request from the first dealer to add more options was absurd. I would have been very PO'd if it had happened to me.
Enjoy your car when it arrives.
Porsche claims 3.8 seconds 0-60mph for the 4S but Car and Driver tested it at 3.4 seconds so your assumption that the 3.5sec figure for the GTS is conservative is probably correct. Unfortunately, I haven't seen an independent test yet so can't confirm but 3.2sec for the GTS wouldn't surprise me...
Hi Snorlax, the pads I have are the "low profile" version. They have a hole in the center which accommodates a removeable aluminum pin designed to fit with the jacking point on a 911 (I had a GT3 when I purchased the Jackpoint stands). Even so, the relatively small flat center of the low profile...
I have a set of Jackpoint jackstands:
Home (jackpointjackstands.com)
There is a video link on the web page to an episode of Jay Leno's garage that shows how the stands work. Their primary advantage is that they allow you to jack up the car at the proper jacking point using one of the various...
Sorry, I missed that in your original post. The tire warranty works great; I had a tire replaced just in the last couple of weeks. My issue was a ruptured sidewall courtesy of a stealth pothole causing the tire to go completely flat, so more severe than your problem, but I doubt they will give...
Given that there appear to be no scuff marks indicating contact with a curb or what have you, that crack might be a defect which would qualify for replacement under the tire manufacturer's warranty. Might be worth looking into. Regardless, you need a new tire.
I haven't seen a Taycan dash with the HUD so I can't compare but IMO the dash without HUD looks fine. These aren't great pics but they should give you some idea of what it looks like. BTW, I have the full leather interior so there is leather treatment on my dash top.
The wheel weights on my Mission E wheels are black as they came from the factory.
Recently, my left front tire was damaged and I took it in to be replaced at the dealership because I have the Porsche wheel/tire warranty. When they rebalanced the wheel, they used light colored weights similar to...
There are a few special features which add functionality to BEV ownership and My Porsche manages to provide the ones I consider essential. Beyond that, I suppose my expectations are lower than some folks since, somehow, I've managed to own and enjoy driving dozens of cars over the years without...
I've driven my wife's e-Tron at night often and it's easy to see in the side view mirrors that the brake lights do come on whenever regeneration is active.
I haven't thought to check the Taycan for this feature after dark, but I'd bet money that they do illuminate under regen. They even did on...
I just ruined a front tire on my 4S with 21" Mission E wheels so, at least in my case, you're right about the "when, not if" part, even here in CA. Fortunately, the rim wasn't damaged.
The 21's come with 35F/30R profile tires while the 20's come with a 45F/40R profile so you have a little more...
Really? Maybe you aren't familiar with Tesla's false promises regarding the several times delayed CyberTruck, how they took $50K deposits on the now vaporware Roadster, and their repeatedly hyped and mislabeled "Autopilot" and "Full Self Driving" capabilities, to name a few. ;)
Tesla has done...
Respectfully, you've misunderstood my point. I'm not trying to justify anything. If you re-read my post, you'll note I stated (twice) that the timing issue I described does not explain the beat down nor would it have made a difference in the end result. Still the fact remains that the Turbo S in...
Not saying this would have made a big difference but there was something off with the Turbo S.
Car&Driver tested the Turbo S 0-60 in 2.4 and the 1/4 mile in 10.5 @ 130mph. Motor Trend got almost identical numbers. I applied a stopwatch multiple times to the in-car video of the Porsche at the...
