Curious to see Everyone's Automotive Journey That Lead You to the Taycan (pic heavy)...

Fun thread! I'm leaving out a bunch of cars and trucks as either I don't have digital photos of them (like my 1975 2002, 1977 530i, 1996 M3 and others) or they weren't an integral part of the journey that led me to the Taycan. I've included one picture that I pulled off the web of the 1969...

Everyone with PPF: Does PPF look TOO glossy??

My car has PPF forward of the A pillars and on the front doors. I use a nanotech product specifically designed for the PPF areas and P21S carnauba wax on the rest of the car. The whole car has a deep shine, and I can tell no difference in glossiness between the two areas.

    Scratched door, repair advice?

$6500 to repaint a door that isn't even dented is ridiculous. Since insurance is apparently on the hook for the full amount of the repair, my guess is that the dealership is padding the estimate big time in hopes that you will accept their bid and they can make a huge profit. Go somewhere else...

The coolest/nicest Taycan spec I’ve ever seen!

Back in the day, I thought the "thunder chicken" treatment looked dumb on the original Pontiac Trans Am. On a Taycan it looks even worse, if that's possible, and I'm well over 45... ;)

Porsche tire insurance saves the day

I decided to take the Taycan on a short errand today and on the way home I was driving along a poorly maintained city street when suddenly...wham! The area where I was travelling was heavily shaded, so I apparently missed seeing what I assume was a pothole. My hopes for zero consequences were...

What is your opinion of the HUD option?

I always thought HUDs were a gimmick but have come to appreciate it in my wife's e-Tron where it was standard with the Prestige package. Unfortunately, it is useless when wearing polarized sunglasses, so for that reason (and the $1850) I skipped it in the Taycan.

Show Us Your Prestige License Plates

These only took 8 months to show up. I like that the black CA retro plates match the facia and the yellow picks up the color of the calipers on my PCCB's! No excuses now for anyone to mispronounce the car's model name. ;)

Car is super noisy on highway

Mission E wheels here with Continentals, no insulated glass, and the car is acceptably quiet with no noise issues whatsoever to complain about. As mentioned by other posters your problem is almost certainly specific to the Goodyears, the way they are wearing, or a particular highway road surface.

    Your other electric vehicle

My wife loves her 2019 Audi eTron Prestige SUV. With the latest software upgrade range has been increased and is more than adequate for how she uses it. It's roomy, fit and finish are exceptional, there have been zero issues in the 2 years we've owned the car, and it is a pleasure to drive.

    Upgraded from 2020 Taycan 4S to 2022 Taycan 4S

@TayTaySD, congrats on your new 4S. Also, I applaud your change of roof choice. BTW, the solid roof is aluminum, not steel, so in addition to whatever other potential differences you may have considered between the two roof options, it's a lot lighter than the glass one.

Function on demand vs Lane Change Assist

It does require hardware in the side view mirrors. With "infinite" money you can do anything but, to my knowledge, LCA isn't available on demand as a download.

New Mercedes Vision EQXX...Look at all familiar?

Taken as a whole, I pretty much agree. But if you look at it from the A pillar forward, it takes a number of cues from the Taycan.

New Mercedes Vision EQXX...Look at all familiar?

Yeah, I don't care for the rear either, even if it is likely very aerodynamic.

New Mercedes Vision EQXX...Look at all familiar?

Mercedes revealed a new concept car today. Does it look like anything we might be familiar with, especially from the front view? Also, note the vent openings behind the front wheels. Seen those before? I'm sure they're just "styling elements" though and don't contribute to the 0.17 Cd..... ;)...

Radar Detector - Hardwire Fuse Box

I get it now. Sorry, can't help with that one.

Radar Detector - Hardwire Fuse Box

No doubt that explains why you are getting a headlight control error since row B4 in the right footwell does control headlight electronics. As mentioned earlier, the OP suggested using row C8 in the left footwell which is a switched circuit for the interior mirror. That's the same one that I...

Radar Detector - Hardwire Fuse Box

I've had no errors at all since installing my V1 using @wemct's suggestion for the power source. He specified using position C8 in the left hand footwell which controls the interior mirror. Is that the slot you used? BTW, the left headlights are controlled by slot B10 in the left footwell and...

Sun Visor Safety Airbag Decal Removal

Yeah, that was me. Never got an answer as to how to safely remove the stickers from Race Tex so, as much as I dislike the yellow stickers, I've left them alone.

    Driver display always ON?

Interesting. I wonder if everyone with a '22 is having this issue and if it's just CT's or all models.

    Driver display always ON?

Everything will shut down completely after a short time. Your post prompted me to go out to my locked car without the key and the displays were completely off. I then went back with the key and touched the door handle at which point everything woke up. After closing up the car again I waited...
