I am buying my first Porsche, and my first electric car ever. In our country, the electric vehicle charging infrastructure is severely underdeveloped, so i will mostly be doing home charging.

I am going to import a used taycan from germany. 2021 models are way cheaper than 2022. Is there any huge difference between them? Are 2022 models more reliable?

Also, i heard that the 22kW charger is very defective, and i should look for a taycan that has the 11kW charger instead. Is that an over-reaction or should i really do that?

Is the range really that much of an issue? If i drive 150 km/h for example, is the real range 150km instead of the 370-400 km claimed?

I mean, if i buy a Taycan 4S, i don't want to drive it 100 km/h all the time just to save battery and not really enjoy what it has to offer.

Really would love to hear your experience and recommendations. Thank you so much in advance.

Can i buy a 2021 and extend the warranty or something? Also, wont the 2022s run out of warranty this year also?

Thank you for your replies guys. You mentioned $5k for porsche extended warranty, how long is the warranty for? And what if i buy a CPO? Does that come with a warranty of some kind?

Both cars are fundamentally identical. It’s really down to how the different cars are equipped and optioned. Buy whichever one is the best deal and whichever one suits your fancy.

Recommend that any used Taycan you buy be a CPO vehicle so you are under extended warranty after your purchase. Beyond that, newest year, lowest miles, and the performance battery + are the other key considerations assuming the car is in top condition. Good luck on your decision!

Another thing to note is Porsche performs an 111 point inspection in order to extend the warranty. If something does not meet Porsches criteria under the inspection and the car is out of the original warranty it must be fixed and you will cover the cost out of your pocket before the extended warranty is granted. If it still under original warranty Porsche will make the vehicle meet their criteria and all you pay is the extended warranty price. approx $2900 for 2 additional years.

@QueryPilot : note the answers provided so far relate to other countries, not Macedonia. Take the advice here as a guide but to be sure you should speak to your local Porsche dealer.

I extended my warranty through my Porsche dealer to the maximum months allowed without any inspection. Of course my original warranty was/is still in effect.

In order for PCNA to consider a vehicle as CPO they require a 111pt inspection for every vehicle (as far as I've been told by PCNA). My inspection is listed in my service history.
Maybe its a 3rd party warranty or service contract.
This is not be true for other marques outside of Porsche.

BTW nice MR2

Note that the OP is in Macedonia, not USA.

Here in UK there is no 111-point check to extend a warranty, provided it's not expired. Also, unlike USA, the extended warranty is still with Porsche, not a third party.

No idea about Macedonia, thus my previous advice for the OP to check with their local Porsche dealer.

I agree he needs to check locally that's why I quoted in response the user located in California an expressed "PCNA" Porsche Car North America. This comment was geared to help others who may come across this thread in the future.
