Adaptive cruise control not available

Car is giving a message that says Adaptive Cruise Control not available. We've used it before. Any ideas how to deactivate it?

Was it a white text warning message?

If so it will rectify itself and you can cancel the notification by pressing the return arrow on the steering wheel.
