Lift mode gives you +20mm.
Active ride easy entry gives you +55mm
Thank you! That’s a huge difference! I believe the Taycan would then be slightly higher than my 5 Series for getting in, if I am not mistaken.

Do you know if the car will raise again if I am in the driver’s seat and parked, and a passenger wants to get in? Or will it not raise once someone is already sitting in the driver’s seat?

I have no idea. My test drive was with a car without active ride. And my new car arrives only end of october.
There's almost nothing technical to find about height, speed and settings of the easy entry.

I would just go to a dealer and make them demonstrate it.

Have you considered a Macan EV? It will be easier to get in and out of the front seat for your passenger.

Yes, I have, but I personally don’t like the look of the Macan. I also enjoy the low, sports car driving experience more than the SUV driving feel.

When I first drove a J1 rear wheel drive, I found it not nearly fast enough. It was similar to my 10 year old Tesla. The new Taycan is obv faster, but stepping up to the 4S will give you real performance. 0-60 in 3.5 for the 4S is equivalent to the J1 GTS. I would seriously consider getting a less fully spec'd 4S compared to a maxed out base model. Forgo the Porsche crest on the headrests and get the standard glass roof instead of the fancy electro-chromatic option. My 2c.

That was also one of my considerations between the 4S and the RWD. I decided to drop the Sport Design package, which costs $3,000, because I saw it in person and wasn’t too thrilled about it. I also dropped the Night Vision option, which is another $2,300.

Lastly, I switched from Club Leather to regular Full Leather. However, I am now considering dropping to the standard trim with partial leather since the full leather is still $4,500 over the base trim. What do you think?

I saw both the full leather and partial leather trims at the dealer and didn't notice a major difference in feel. The full leather didn’t feel particularly more plush than the base, though it did look slightly more upscale at first glance.

Personally i'd go for the full regular leather. Also not sure i'd but a glass roof again either. You can't really see it from front seats and they seem to go wrong (ie crack) a lot.....

I've come from a 4S CT on 20" wheels to a Turbo ST with 21" wheels + active ride. So there are a few differences between the cars putting active ride aside, (wheel size, lower ride ST vs CT, J1 vs J1.2 air suspension).

I've not hit 200miles yet so still figuring it out, these are my early thoughts for what they are worth:
  • The ST with active ride is excellent at keeping the cabin still, very little movement, in particular I notice that my body/head moves around a lot less making it a much more relaxing ride, will be great for long journeys
  • Active ride is not a miracle, you still feel bad road surfaces/holes but more as firm vibration rather than jolts.
  • Bigger lumps/bumps like uneven cambers, dips etc are mostly eliminated
  • Lift and compression over bumps/crests is significantly reduced, giving a big confidence boost when pushing hard on smaller, poor quality roads
  • The ST feels like a firmer but more compliant car at the same time, which seems counter intuitive, must be the impact of active ride
  • In corners it is dead flat, I don't notice anything odd or artificial*, I just feels dialled in. (*it does feel a little strange in 'active lean' mode but you can turn that off, so far I actually quite like it for relaxed cruising)
  • All the above reduces the sense of weight of the car, making it feel smaller and more nimble.
Overall I'm really pleased with the improvement over my previous CT -that I thought was excellent!

Regarding the lift function, standard lift is 20 or 22mm, takes ages, needs to be active from inside the car, not practical in my view. Active ride is 55mm lift and super fast as soon as you lift a door handle but a bit of a gimmick for me, so I turned it off. I may change my view when I am 71 ;)

$28k solely for active ride is not worth it IMO, but if you value the 4S with its 4WD, performance, better residual etc over the RWD then go for active ride sure. Throw in push-to-pass while you are at it.

@Boss Hogg Thank you! That is very informative. Could you also elaborate on whether the car will raise if you're sitting in the driver's seat and a passenger opens the door while parked? Or does it only work if nobody is sitting behind the steering wheel?

@BullitX, since you are asking for feedback on the custom build, the best way to do it is to build it, give us some context around your option choices and share the code with us to review, since the options are endless and some details are not obvious from the configurator of what they are and why they might important. I understand that you are currently working at a big picture level of RWD vs. 4s, Active Ride, Leather, Night Vision, etc. but after you settle on that, we can help you with further tuning if you want it.

@SergeyIndy You are right, I will share the config:

http://www.porsche-code.com/PSUEQ9H1

Overall Context:
I am exploring the 4S over a RWD, partly due to the Active Ride (which isn’t available in the RWD), but I happily accept the added performance as well (and it holds value better?).

Panoramic Roof: This is a must-have for me. I’ve only had cars with sunroofs, and I tried cars without any glass roof, but I felt boxed in. I just can’t live without a glass roof.
Audio: I appreciate “better than stock” audio, but I am not an audiophile.
Driving Habits: I make long trips (total 4 hours round trip) to clients at least once or twice a week.
Passenger Comfort: My father, who is 71 years old, will be a frequent passenger. He has mobility difficulties due to stiff/painful joints, so comfort is key. This is why I am also interested in the Active Ride for its raising feature when getting in and out of the car.
Current Car: I currently drive a BMW 5 Series 530e. It’s fully loaded, including BMW Adaptive Suspension.

I would love some feedback and tuning on the configuration. I am looking to shave off some options to reduce costs and am also curious about the leather options (some have said the full leather is worth it), Sport Design Package (is it worth it?), and other features.

Do you often have passengers in the back?
You could get rid of the seat heating and 4 zone climate for the back. The option for seat heating is cleverly named to make it sound like you don't get heating on the front without it...

@RacingDuck Ooooh then they fooled me! I only want seat heating in the front, thats standard?? 4-zone does really add to the back-seat ambiance though, I dislike the bare vents

@BullitX, this is very thoughtfully build that appears to be fully loaded as a starting point. Others can suggest to cut something out, but I think everything has its purpose the way you made it. For example, 4-zone gives you adjustable temp for the front footwells at least on the Gen 1, Night Vision is great to see pedestrians and animals at night, InnoDrive is good for long drives that you will be making, etc.

I can suggest one add to consider, which is Leather B-Pillar and Door Sill that I ended up with to remove hard plastic in these areas, but it is not for everyone as small scuff marks can be easily made during getting in and out of the car, but I could not stand the plastic there in the loaners as it is of the worst grade possible compare say to Cayenne or Macan.
