Looks like we made it to Halifax! Hopefully a quick turnaround before she’s sailing to Davisville.

Although our TYD is showing Mid Jan for delivery, the local general manager seems confident that it will arrive this year unless there is a “program” and they have to do something at the port.

OK the draught just changed from 9'3 to 8'7 so me thinks some cars have been off loaded and the FA is prepping to leave Halifax shortly! We shall see...

FYI, here’s what Siem Aristotle, which is about 24 hours ahead of us, is doing. Unfortunately, it looks like we’d likely arrive too late to offload before the 2 day Christmas holiday. 26th is what is showing on Davisville schedule, so that should be valid.

interesting - so how does that work? Do they dock and just not offload until everybody is back? Does the crew get to enjoy the holiday in Davisville or do they stay on ship? Never put too much thought into all of this lol

I’m curious as to whether the ports are open on Sundays….

Ports are complicated entities. Davisville is owned by QDC which is a quasi-state run organization. They build the facility and lease out space to companies who provide service at the port. NORAD is a separate company that does auto shipping processing. I believe that QDC’s holiday schedule has them closed on Christmas and the monday after if Christmas falls on a weekend. NORAD‘s holiday schedule seems to be the 24th and the 25th. Other required services are pilots and tug boats. I believe that pilots are independent operators licensed by the state. And finally, stevedores/longshoremen are typically independent companies who can be hired to do the loading/offloading work. The port shows Felicity Ace arriving around 5am on the morning of the 24th. I think that the port is open on the 24th and hopefully pilot/tugs/stevedores are available to get her to the dock and secured. Everything is closed on the 25th. NORAD shows Felicity Ace on Sunday. Hopefully that means the vehicles will be offloaded and processed Sunday. Also hopefully, the car carriers will start leaving Monday-unless NORAD needs to do any ‘campaign’ work on the vehicles before they ship.
