Just heard from dealership. Car is done. So it took a day and a half, including at least one false start. Looking forward to getting my baby back and seeing the uPdate, but since @DerekS beat me to it, I'll just assume I am as happy as he appears to be with the result.
FWIW, mine took 5 hours today. Haven't had much time to play but all settings seem to be saved and my phone was still paired.

The weather widget continues to be glitchy. I like that on my custom screen (not sure why - weather here never changes ;)). Many times will say "service not available. Try again later."
I mean the weather app is one of the biggest jokes.
Usually I would use this as a beginners course programming 101 after "hello, world". less than 100 lines of code, 1-2 API calls and showing some graphics depending.
but in PCM this complex app needs >10 sec. to load and is mostly failing because Porsche's weather API is down.

but at the end the weather app only is to show, they have a problem with the backend when some strange things happening without clear error msgs.

indeed.. as a Tesla owner that gets every 2/3 weeks a update with big changes or new functions that takes 20 min's overnight reading this topic is just painful.

What did I ordered :(
You ordered the best looking & driving car with the lousiest software

at least the lousy infotainment had an excellent and clean looking GUI, which is now being transformed into a my first unicorn/rainbow style. Not sure if I am happy with that.

Agreed with @rs38... I'd prefer monochromatic icons as well.
Maybe Porsche will provide some kind of special settings as FOD for such users (for $399 only) :giggle:

No problem here.
I don't have a problem with the loading either cuz I understand other, more important apps load first.
You just can't have it all be loaded within a few seconds.

Agree.
I wish Porsche would have given us a choice: modern buttons with/without the color.

Older cars take more time.
Also with/without ANA6 (update instrument cluster).
PCM update is WNJ8 campaign.
Topic name should be changed accordingly imho.

I’m not going into it all because there are multiple threads about it but you’re incorrect. ANA6 and WNJ8 are both the PCM update, just for different cars with different prerequisites.

I prefer monochrome as well - but the coloured icons should be a lot more intuitive to use while driving.

Your subconscious should learn the colours very quickly and you should then be able to select the options without barely looking at the screen.

I'm fairly sure thats why they did it. There might even be a safety aspect to it.

Wasn't ANA6 triggered by the NHTSA?
WNJ8 is just Porsche goodwill.
I can't recall NHTSA called for colored icons... ?

Does the weather still show the date and such in German regardless of language set?

They didn’t, but Porsche’s response to the NHTSA was that PCM would get a full update *that would require a new owner’s manual to be given to the customer*. A simple fix for screen blanking wouldn’t have required that. And forum members in the US who have already gotten the ANA6 repair have confirmed that it *IS* the full PCM update. (And that reminds me: has anyone - ANA6 or WNJ8 - gotten an updated manual, or is this just going to be handled with an update to the “Good to know” app?)
