I suspect that I lost my enjoyment of shouty engines that drew attention to how hard I was trying, decades before EVs became a practical reality. I only realised this quite recently when I had a Cayenne E-Hybrid- I found myself reluctant to use its full potential. To me, silence is effortlessness, and effortless power is the most thrilling.

I was once given a base macan as a loaner, for me it was not very special. I've also been given a panamera, that was a decent ride

Couldn't wait to get rid of the Macan T loaner. The lack of instant torque and slow acceleration was just one of its many unforgettable "qualities"

I switched to EV with Tesla Model 3 and Model X. Then after about 4 years of ownership, I switched to the Taycan and the Etron. While both are amazing EVs to drive, I was given a Macan loaner for when my Taycan was in service, and I had so much fun with the SUV because of the engine/transmission characteristics. Taycan is undoubtedly faster than the Macan, but the sound of that engine roaring and you feel the transmission upshifting made it feel fast. I miss the little things like when you feel the down shift, or when you can pop it into manual, or even the fact that the car's transmission is nowhere near as smooth as EV. If it wasn't for the insane gas prices, I think I would rather go back to petrol and just get a 911.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my Taycan and for an EV, it is arguably the best to drive. Though, sometimes I just miss the crackles and pops of an engine.

That is why I have kept some ICE cars for a week end blast. Long term I will not buy another new ICE, a classic perhaps. But a new car will be another EV.

I got a Cayman GTS 4.0 manual transmission as a loaner once. What a glorious car to drive on the mountain roads around me. Quick, nimble and the Symphonie out of the exhaust! The Taycan is like a tank around these roads. Not enjoyable, even if it performs quite well. But you know it is very heavy.

Once I went EV I never looked back. I enjoy the silence and instant, butter-smooth power. I was very happy when Porsche finally came up with an EV since 911 was the best handling car I've ever owned to-date. On the Taycan, I don't even care for the sport noise (it came included in my config, I plan to keep it off) - there is something serene about doing 0-60 in sub under 3 seconds in almost complete silence . Would I enjoy driving a 911 Turbo with a manual transmission around a track, you bet! But for a daily driver which occasionally goes to a track, I will take an EV every time.

I own a BMW Z4M Roadster. 3.2 6-inline, naturally aspirated, manual gearbox.. I'm a real car enthousiast and appreciate the raw driving experience.
I also enjoy an EV for daily driving, as I drive a lot, I care about comfort, the silence, a good audio system, etc.
I notice that since the daily drivers I own have gotten more comfortable, I rarely take the Z4M for work-related driving. You don't enjoy that car on the highway, with of lot of traffic.

I still don't want to get rid of the Z4M for the occasional fun-drive though. Because although the Taycan is a very good car, it is a little bit boring sometimes. Speed and steering aren't the only factors of a driving experience. Sometimes, it's fun to have engine sound, to have to shift perfect, to revv-match. It's rewarding.

Personally, I don't miss ICE cars.

I just don't enjoy driving them whatsoever now I've got used to my Taycan.

Especially performance cars, which just feel out of sync for sound v performance compared to the instant torque of a quiet EV.

I traded test-drives/rides with a friend who has a '22 Shelby GT-500 (760+HP) the other day.

Both cars are SO much fun in their own right!

Having never been in an EV, he was gobsmacked by the instant, silent, massive pull of my car, and I was equally awed by the sound, fury and top-end power of his car. The throttle blips as the Shelby's DCT downshifted during deceleration were fun too. But it takes a BIG open road and nobody around to really enjoy his car, while mine is a riot in the type of driving we all do every day.

Both cars handle very well for what they are.

All that said, nope, not going back to an ICEV DD, nor getting bored with my EV...

I have a Macan Turbo, it’s a fantastic car but not particularly fun to drive, it might be on a track or on the limit but not fun on restricted roads. Im collecting my x turismo 4s late November and now im actually having cold feet after driving my daughters mini! I have actually been looking at caymans now, of all the cars I’ve had I actually think my Honda Civic Type R EP3 was the most fun, naturally aspirated and a bit more raw.
I should add that being in construction i am mainly in my van, so leisurely drives are mainly weekends/evenings.
Taycan probably not the right vehicle to scratch that itch , i may have been a bit too hasty in my decision but it’s just so damn sexy!
