The problem is what they are researching and testing for may not be what I am looking for. They went with garbage Procontact RXs didn’t they? Pilot Sport 5, Assymetric 6, Continental Sport Contacts are all newer and in the first 2 cases replaced the NF0 tires.
My suspicion is that this N-rated "testing" is less actual drive testing, and more about co-marketing deals and/or bulk discounts.

The Contis that were on my first Taycan were downright dangerous in the wet, and wore horribly.

Michelin PS4S are not N-rated.
Yes they are.
They are NA0 rated, that's 911.
The N is for Porsche, the second letter is model and the number is the development version.

Here are the others:
911 Carrera NA#
Boxster/Cayman NB#
Cayenne NC#
Panamera ND#
Macan NE#
Taycan NF#

If your car has a problem with the drivetrain and/or suspension and you don't have the specific tires on, Porsche won't take responsibility and put it outside the warranty.
It's just that simple.
It's your choice.

Please note, I don't say those Michelins are a bad choice, in fact, I want to try them too but I don't want to take the risk now that I still have (extended) warranty.
Maybe after that period I'll try them.
For now I'll switch from Pirelli P-Zero to Goodyear Asymetric (NF0) to see if the Goodyears wear better.
My Pirellis last about 15-20.000km (my driving is spirited though).

That's quite a stretch, IMO.

Michelin PS4S are not N-rated. I will absolutely fit them (again) soon when the P-Zeros on my GTS burn up.
These are the recommended fit summer tyre on every UK Taycan I have seen with 20’ wheels.
Michelin Pilot Sport 4. NFO.

Piggybacking this question - anyone ever go wider to square up the shape of the tire, fill out the wheel well a bit, and give the wheel a hair more rim protection?

275 up front and 315/325 in rear. Strongly considering this on Mission E’s.
If you can find those tire sizes, I'd imagine it should be fine. Stock Taycan wheel/tire fitment is on the stretched side so slightly increasing width will be fine from that perspective. There was a taycan that ran a 275 front and 325 rear on a staggered 20/21 setup so we know a 275 should fit up front.

For sake of consistency vs stock in front/rear overall diameter differential, I'd probably stick with the 315 rear if possible

Think Derek is talking about Pilot Sport 4S, vs Pilot Sport 4. The 4S is a more aggressive "full" summer tire, while the 4 is more of a mild summer tire / 3 season tire. I have the OEM PS4 on my Taycan and has noticeably more grip in the cold-ish (40 degrees F) than PS4S I've had in the past on other cars, but also less grip in warm conditions.

Regarding the Porsche NF0 spec, it's not so much of a safety thing as much as potential advantages (often minor) that come from the tire manufacturer working with Porsche. Hard to tell unless tested side by side, but it's possible for example the NF0 PS4 has lower rolling resistance and better range than a standard PS4. But there's no reason a non-NF0 tire isn't safe as long as it has the right load and speed ratings.

Also there's only so many tweaks / minor advantages in OEM spec tires that make it worth it. For example, a NF0 PS4 is going to be a lower performing tire as a summer tire vs a PS4S, even if there were tweaks in the NF0 that made it a higher performer than a standard PS4. So if summer performance is your goal, you're likely better off just jumping to a PS4S since its compound is more focused for that goal, even if it's non NF0

Forgot to add: I was talking about 21" wheels (as it's the topic's subject).
There's no NF0 Michelin for 21" (yet).

I'm following @DerekS here and I ordered Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires for my new 21" Signature Wheels. I'm hoping they come in soon.

I had spec'd 20" all-season tires for my CT and I got the H-speed rated Pirelli P7 All Season tires. Not a fan of this tire and will definitely get something else when the time comes.
