Are the keys safe from relay theft?

I didn't spec Comfort Access, but still notice interaction with the car when you get close (washing the car etc) without pressing the key fob buttons.

I am assuming the issues which allow relay theft have been designed out of the standard key?

Not sure about the answer to your question, but fyi you can hold the lock and unlock buttons for about a second and the remote light will flicker. Once this is done, comfort access is temporarily disabled until you press a button on the keyfob again. You can then wash your car without fear of things automatically triggering due to proximity.

Probably not. Which is why they put this disclaimer on the configurator

Note: Comfort Access uses state-of-the-art technology. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that the key’s wireless encryption code is intercepted and used to open or steal the vehicle

The Taycan was reviewed as passing independent relay attacks, I think by Thatcham. I believe manufactures have achieved this by having the keys go to sleep after a period of no movement.

I have comfort access but disable it manually when parking overnight. I leave it on the rest of the time, it’s nice having the door handles pop out when you walk up to the car.

So it looks like the new key is safe and easy to disable for car cleaning etc.

I didn’t spec comfort access either but noticed that my car has been delivered with it too (October 2021). The dealer said that they’ve noticed a few others be delivered with this when it wasn’t specced. It’s something that Porsche may remove from the car on a software update in the future according to the dealer as it wasn’t something I paid for…

Still don’t want it. Working in software I want as little software as possible responsible for things like these. The same goes for “smart” locks on my home and such. We are a industry filled with average at best individuals.
