The 2022 model *does have these issues*. Here's a video of my MY22 CT refusing to acknowledge that it has Bluetooth.

This happened *while I was at the dealership for an unrelated problem*. They took it away to take a look, and came back about 25 minutes later saying it had started working again.
To clarify, read my post - I never said ALL 2022 models have no issues - just that there are a large number that have none, mine certainly does not. This is an equally important observation vs those that have issues. Hence my point about hardware sourcing or version history etc. and my final comment re "of course a major assumption that that element has been sorted out"

Your point about hardware generations seems logical. I have one of the earliest build Taycan and have changed a lot of the Comms hardware. In some cases to another revision level I think.

The fact that Porsche have released so many versions of the PCM hardware over about two years, would indicate yo me that they hve some major problems in that area. But Porsche have not said anything at all on the matter. Just quietly install new hw and release new features in sw as that would take away the issue for them.

Ok so I don’t have CarPlay but use the inbuilt Apple Music (works great). I would have thought that CarPlay would use your phone’s data service given the inbuilt SIM is reserved for Porsche services. Perhaps I’m not understanding fully your scenario however.

Email and fancy passwords are not a good mix - perhaps change both (another wild guess).

@Dee has been through this torture and I think is on his 3rd OTA and I assume ‘happy’ with the outcome.
First original one was fried (2019), second one was a revised version and third time was just software update if I remember correctly.

You know you have a communication problem with the OTA-module when you can't connect through the app AND through the web portal either (obviously).
Also the data of the car isn't updated in a few days.
Works fine ever since so yeah, very happy about the excellent service of my dealer.
They know what they're doing.

PS It wasn't torture.
It was just inconvenient for a few days.
Don't make it bigger than it was.
Still best car I've ever owned.
Now still 100% trouble free.

Isn't that the main purpose of customer care?
You make it sound like this is a bad thing.
It only shows Porsche want to solve problems of customers and is still working on it (I presume).
I do hope they can solve all problems.

on a regular basis (approx 2 to 3 times per week) I will get into the car and the on board SIM will not connect. This has the effect of preventing any connection to my IPhone rendering the bluetooth, car play, and any phone related function unavailable.
I have a '22 (built November 2021) and I would see the same: 1 or 2 times per week I would get in my car and I couldn't use CarPlay. There were a number of different symptoms: sometimes I would get a 'No connection' yet my iPhone showed up in 'Devices', sometimes 'No connection' and my iPhone wasn't connected, sometimes my iPhone connected and the CarPlay UI showed up but music was stuck. sometimes CarPlay showed up, the music timeline would move but no sound came out.
I brought my car in for the WNA5 update and since then (10 days) CarPlay has worked with sound each day. Whether this was the WNA5 or a system reboot (as someone on this forum suggested), I don't know. But it seems to be working reliably.
My suggestion is to bring your car back and let the Porsche service department get it working. It can work, and it should work. Let them do what they need to do to get it working.

Hi guys

I thought I would post to glean a consensus from other drivers around an issues with my Taycan PCM

The issue is simple, on a regular basis (approx 2 to 3 times per week) I will get into the car and the on board SIM will not connect. This has the effect of preventing any connection to my IPhone rendering the bluetooth, car play, and any phone related function unavailable.

Related to this is the equally shite on board apple apps that constantly log out, do not sync properly, are generally slow and un responsive meaning that I have given up using them at all.

I run an IT company so I have a decent knowledge of software and despite the car being in the dealership twice, nothing has fixed it and the latest 'plan' is to replace the entire PCM system, something I am not keen on doing for any number of reasons.

Things I have already done :-

  1. Two finger reset on a regular basis, no effect
  2. Delete all connections on the phone and re pair, no effect
  3. Leave the car outside at night! on the basis that the signal (vodafone I believe) is constant, no effect
The problem resolves itself if I leave the car, let it shut down (approx 15 mins) and then go back, but it is utterly impractical and I am absolutely fed up of having to drive with AirPods on a regular basis, never mind the more recent laws that will ensure I catch a fine at some time.

Its utter shite, totally unacceptable on a car costing £160,000 and I wondered if I am alone with these issues.

For full disclosure I have been offered a refund / new car, which I certainly appreciate but I cannot see any point in changing unless there is proof positive the 2022 model does not have these issues. It is highly unlikely the 2022 PCM is that radically different that these issues (which I am convinced is piss poor software creation) will be any different. To align so many systems to the onboard SIM activating properly is just bad coding!

I’ve got a 2020 Taycan Turbo with 20k kms on it. It started intermittently with the issues you are saying then got worse. Others have mentioned it here but the Communications Module needed to be replaced and it seems to have restored this to their original levels of flaky. Not great for the price of the car but not to the level you are describing or that I was experiencing. Just make sure that if they are doing a PCM replacement that this includes the comms module or whatever they call it.

CarPlay's working fine in my '22. In fact, it boots up on its own as soon as I get in the car. My only complaint with the PCM is that when I hit SiriusXM it rarely ever brings up my favorites or the last station I was on. It makes me go through the menus and reselect everything, which is just dumb.

Yeah, I had my car in the dealer’s garage 3x since December when I took delivery. Bluetooth is hit and miss. Not as bad as your experience, but I’d reckon once a week nothing works. It requires a deep sleep cycle to come back to live, which I was - like you - unable to trigger manually in any way. Far cry from my Tesla’s connectivity Magic. But hey…drives like a dream ??‍♂

I was having similar problems but found it was related to my phone. Have you tried using the wire connection?

I have the same issue, sometimes i get in the car and Sirius will play immediately even though CarPlay is connected sometimes it doesn’t. Dealership is useless with these sort of issues.

It looks like your comms module / OTA module has an issue - this can be replaced. Without a reliable connection your Porsche Connect services won’t function reliably.

Connecting your phone to the PCM is not dependent on the internal SIM (this is reserved for Porsche Connect etc).

If you have paid extra (I hope not) for the monthly data package to use the internal WiFi Hotspot then connectivity for this could be impaired also.

I can see from the icons on the first photo that you had no cell connection which explains why some of your services aren’t working - weather icon is greyed out for example.

Either you have a pending hardware failure with the above module or something else is up with the PCM.

I always suggest to try your second key to unlock the car (assuming a secondary Porsche Connect ID has been created and assigned) and see what if anything improves in respect of connectivity (rules out back office issues with your Connect ID - have your tried this (it worked for me on more than 1 occasion)?
Agreed 100% the PCM and app is absolute crap no other way to say it simply not good enough

Get a new car or replaced the PCM. Porsche software needs a lot of work but most cars don’t have those problems. The PCM on my Taycan MY20 is slow but works more or less OK

This was my first thought upon reading the OP. Doesn't connecting your phone by cable to the USB port allow you to do things directly off the phone? It does in my last three (non-BEV) Porsches....

Already booked in, for the 3rd time and the first time to replace the PCM
I went through this with my Panamera. Back and forth back and forth - new screen, new PCM etc etc. It still did not work properly so ultimately gave up!
