Hello all, I'm shopping for a Taycan and am in the final stages of making a purchase decision, so I'm doing a lot of research before pulling the trigger. My question to all of you owners is about the b-piller interior plastic (or leather) getting scratched as you get out of the car. I've noticed almost all of the Taycans that I have driven at dealer lots, excpet a brand new one with the seat protectors still on it, that all the cars show scratchs in the lower plastic b-piller area, especially on the curved edge. I have also seen at least 1 youtube video that called out this as a problem too.

My question to you is have you found a way to avoid the scratches, or are you just resigned to owning a $150k car that after a few years will have a badly worn part inside (or is this part easily replaced when you get tired of seeing the scratches)?

I'm sure part of it has to do with the driver or passenger knowing how to get in and out, but missing your entry trajectory will result in a bump and you can't undo that. Has anyone found a way to protect this area with ppf or some adhesive vinyl that's easily replaced?

thanks in advance!

Interesting question as I've thought about this myself. The "B-pillar in alcantara" wasn't available when I ordred my car, so I had to opt for the standard plastic... Passengers unclick the seatbelt and let it fly, leading to wear on the b-pillar piece. I unclick and move the seat belt over, however even then it can it the b-pillar. I'm gentle and have asked my wife to be mindful (which she did after a rather large eye-roll). For the most part, I'm resigned to accept.

I have no direct experience (currently scheduled for December delivery), but I came across enough concern about wear on the standard vinyl in other threads here that I chose to spec Race-Tex covering for them.

Following. My b-pillar has accumulated some scratches, not from flying seatbelts but from hip traffic from the awkward clamber one has to go through to climb out past the very forward B-pillar itself.

Racetex is the solution - lower b-pillar.

With care the plastic won't scratch but is susceptible to it.

Opted for leather, holds up quite well.
I have switched off comfort entry (moving of seat and steering wheel), there is room enough for me without it and the B pillar is not that much in the way when getting into the seat.

One of the biggest issue for me in Taycan is B pillar moved to much forward. Not only because of scratches. Because it more difficult to get into the car. After 7 months I'm ok with both concerns.
Clever saleswomen at dealership adviced me to address my issue (plastic B pillar) if it's important to me, instead of making me ignoring my concern. Looks like your case. I considered RaceTex on the ceiling lining and on B pillar. My wife stopped me from RaceTex, because it introduces another black color, different than black leather. Finally I decided for leather B pillar and leather doorstep, and standard black ceiling lining. Additional leather costed around 2,5k USD. And it was great decision, I find the car more luxurious after opening doors and entering it.
I don't mean RaceTex is bad option. It's great for GTX interior IMO, but for me mixing RaceTex with more traditional leather was not the best match.

If/when it begins to bother you, just buy a new bit. I‘m sure, in common with trim parts it will be easy(ish) to replace.

Anybody replaced the plastic B-trim? Most of my wear and tear is from the early days of not yet having figured how to unpour myself back out of the Taycan. Interested to know the cost and whether the replacement was well seated, no gaps etc.

So far (to the best of my knowledge) there is nothing short of having something made aftermarket.

I wanted to buy the optional racetex panel via Porsche parts but when I inquired at Suncoast they told me it is an exclusive factory only option and there is nothing in their parts catalog for it. If this was 2020/2021 and the Taycan was new I could understand but mid 2023 it seems like Porsche does not want to allow us to "upgrade" to that part which is s shame.

I'm thinking that it may be possible to buy a piece of something like this on Amazon (link here) and then use a spray adhesive like 3M 77 and apply it over the plastic? Of course it would be better if you can remove the panel first but not sure what's involved with removing it (clips/hidden screws?), but then wrapping it might be an option have a better finished look than just gluing it over. Neither of these options would be permanent and should be removable with minimal effort and solvent.

The plastic lower B pillar part numbers are:
9J1867240A right side
9J1867239B left side

They run between $50 used on eBay to $80-100 new on Porsche online parts sites.

You can check out the clips on eBay if you want to remove yours or I suggest just buying them off eBay and spraying the glue outside of the car plus wrapping the edges with your fabric and then using the eBay part to help you with the removal. You'll want some plastic trim/pry tools.

The problem is you can't buy Race-Text fabric anywhere (to my knowledge) and it is vastly different when compared to Alcantara.

You won't match the color nor the texture. It'll be close but not the same. I have several pieces of black Alcantara from Amazon on hand and its just not at all the same. Race-Tex is "fluffier" (for lack of a better term) and not true black more like a dark grey.

That said I'd love to see what you come up with if you decide to attempt this!

Just ran into this problem with my 2025 CT. I bought it off the floor so I wasn’t able to option anything. The driver side B pillar was totally scratched up. I had my Detailer try to fix it and he wasn’t able to. The dealer agreed to send me a new panel; they are not that hard to remove if you have the panel remover tools, and you look for for where the clips are located. I ordered a piece of Alcantara, which is what someone further down in the thread recommended. I don’t know if it’s going to be able to wrap around the edges and still be installed. Other than that, I thought about Velcro-ing the same piece of sheepskin that I use on the seatbelt itself to that lower area. Or maybe a thin piece of suede. I hate the plastic but what to do?

Only way I found is to put my hand on the B Pillar, slide my butt and back across hand instead of the plastic
