Hi All,

New to this forum so hello to all! took delivery of my 4s March 2023 and overall I love it! Visited my dealer several weeks ago as part of the battery recall check/fire hazard due to leak and was advised not to worry as only 1% of cars impacted, sadly mine was one of them ?.

My cars now been in dealer 5 weeks with no sign of replacement arriving. Just wondering how long have others waited?

The only positive being I’ve had a 911 4 GTS (on request), another 4s and now have a Tay gts as courtesy cars so not all bad!

Thank you for posting. I've seen many people report their car passed it, but I think you're the first case I've heard of where the car failed.

The bad news is, it's been known to take months for a battery to arrive.

You said your dealer said only 1% are affected, the recall in the US said 3%, I wonder if the defect rate was lower than anticipated.

Hi,

Impression I got from my dealer was there’s been more fails than expected (3 other cars had failed after mine in same week). Certainly leaving a bitter taste as had no reliability issues up until now.
I guess it’s better than going up in flames looking on the bright side!

My Taycan 4S has been at the dealer just short of 4 weeks. After several conversations with service manager it appears waiting for a part/or battery. Is Porsche ready for EV prime time? If you want to nerd out, Munro live has a Taycan battery tear down. My loaner a Macan, so not as lucky.

Hi all, new to this forum too ! My 2022 Taycan has been at the dealer now for 13 weeks with the dreaded electrical fault and totally dead vehicle. I keep getting mixed messages and dates from the dealer in the uk. Started with “it has dead cells” to “ we need to wait for equipment from Germany” to “ we need to send someone on a training course before we can look at your vehicle” and the latest “ we have to wait for the right kit to do the repair” and there is only one lot of kit in the UK currently going around the various dealerships”. Needless to say I am not impressed . I got given a petrol VW via enterprise until I kicked off. Now have a BMW iX which is ok but nothing like a Taycan!! So far dealer has agreed to refund lease payments, pay for first service and a day at the Silverstone experience centre which is all well and good but I have been without my vehicle for over 3 months now !! I hear there are 9 vehicles with the same issue at my dealer and a good number elsewhere in the UK. Anyone else having similar issues ??

3 months OMG! When I went in for my recall my car was working fine it just failed some of the tests and I was then advised it needed to get the battery replaced for safety. My dealer has given me a GTS atm so i’m happy to leave it with them. Although I note this is up for sale so if they have any interest they’ll ask for it back which is what happened with my last car. I’ve not gone down the compensation route yet as I bought mine but a free service sounds like a good result!

I had no issues with my 2020 Turbo. My 2023 GTS is going in for the battery check next week. Will keep you posted. I did leave it standing (in my garage) for about 2 weeks over the holidays. I didn't drive it after returning and then the alarm started going off every 30 seconds. It then went completely dead (with 85% in the main battery). Turns out that the 12v battery had gone flat and that needed manual entry into the car, brief charging from the fuse box in the driver footwell, then electronic opening of the frunk, then charging of the 12v battery. What a faff! Apart from this and the absurd depreciation, I love it!

If it is any consolation, I had a similar experience but it was triggered by the red electric system error resulting in a dead 12v when I had to leave on vacation. When I got back I had to do everything you did to get the car in neutral so I could load it on to a tow truck and took it to the dealership.

It’s been there now for 30days. The holidays didn’t help and the latest news is they are waiting on a Porsche engineer to arrive and help them replace some cells. I have no idea when I’ll get my car back. Mine is a GTS but I have a 4s loaner so I'm not too happy about that but I guess I can’t complain too much since I’m not driving an ICE vehicle.

I was without a loaner for a week which made me upset but now I’m just trying to be patient and wondering about my monthly payments as mine isn’t a lease.

Luckily my 2023 GTS passed the dreaded Battery test. I believe the issue in the supply chain for Battery replacement is not the parts but the capability of the service staff. Taycan production has slowed due to an EV glut and so there is currently ample supply of Batteries. Replacing a high voltage battery requires specialized training and equipment. I believe not all dealers have this capability so they are waiting for Porsche factory master techs to do or assist with the work . Most dealers don’t want to admit their service deficiencies so they blame it on parts. There is also the possibility that in some cases Porsche wants to conform / inspect before authorizing the repair and providing for the cost of a 20k battery replacement. Glad to hear dealers are providing loaners. You may also want to ask for compensation if the vehicle is leased. In 2014 I had a two month repair on a mercedes S class and even though the dealer gave me an S class loaner - Mercedes corporate sent me a check equal to two months lease payments. The issue was not a recall but a manufacturing defect with the car. It took two months because a factory technician from Germany needed to come to the dealer to complete the repair.

Update - so after my car being at the dealer for 6 weeks they have now decided it’s fine! Apparently there’s only 1 technician qualified to do the tests hence the delay. Mine failed initial tests but the following ones are with the battery removed from the car which it passed.

On a sep note I had a GTS for 4 weeks and I was glad to get mine back! The Alcantara is not for me (prefer leather) although it felt marginally quicker and slightly more agile. Personal pref as always but given the one I had was £125k list and the dealer had it up for sale for £99k with 600 miles on the clock even the GTS (which is often felt to be the sweet spot) is not immune from depreciation!

Anyone have the NA president contact. I know it’s been used on another forum before to help exposed problems.
