Sorry if I'm a bit confused l, but is this already on the flex transponder? Or how do I get this piece?
Send us a picture of the type of Transponder you are struggling with - the one you see in the picture is issued in my case by https://thetollroads.com/

Sorry don't know the actual names of their products. But you can order this online in your account. If the "flex transponder" is the white box, then no this does not come with that.

This is what I have. Am I missing a RFID type sticker that was supposed to come with it?

That is a different type of transponder designed for Car Pooling - and not designed to be fixed onto one single car - if you did not intend that use case it may be wise to get one of the normal transponders (they are free) - the Tarrifs for that Type of transponder are sometimes difefrent based on what passenger setting it is at and what Toll road you are passing - read this link for the different types https://secure.thetollroads.com/accounts/tags/request

If you did need that type - the two blocks on the back are either a sticky pad or you should use some double sided tape or velcro - whatever you feel comfortable being on your screen glass

i think i figured out the difference. According to this reddit, the sticker was rolled out for SoCal (tollroads.com), and state law mandates that all toll roads in the state work together, so the sticker works on Bay Area tolls.

This Flex transponder allows for HOV count toggle, you can see the switch. The sticker obviously doesn't allow a toggle. The toggle allows a EV or an HOV to receive discounted tolls for a single or double occupancy. I modified my thread title to be more target! In SoCal, it appears the Flex can be used on the 405?

My question is has anyone successfully used the Flex transponder on their car with thermal insulated glass and if so where do you place it?

I believe all j1.1 in the US has thermal insulated glass, so we should all have similar issues (at least in CA as we use the same transponders)
Thermal & Noise Insulated glass was an option on 2020-2024 Taycans.

Use mine for the past 2 1/2 years, no mis-reads. works. I placed it half way on the dotted area next the rear-view mirror housing, and half of it's outside the dotted area. to the right if you're looking out front from the driver seat. It's placed in a small 3d-printed holder and that holder uses suction cups to attached to the glass, so it's not sticking directly to the glass (don't think this makes difference, it's more of so I don't have to scrap sticky residue off later). Thermal noise insulated windshield.

I have exact same setup as ThinkMac — thermal insulated glass, transponder in holder attached with suction cups half in dotted area next to rearview mirror — and it works fine on all Bay Area bridges.

Everyone does seem very confused about the CAV-specific FasTrak because the rules for it are different from the other ones.

A FasTrak CAV toll tag can only be used in the vehicle to which it is registered and cannot be switched between vehicles. If you have more than one eligible CAV you must order a FasTrak CAV toll tag for each vehicle.
With my thermal glass Taycan I’ve just been using license plate reading. Got the CAV tag for my prior few EVs and just didn’t find all the extra hassle worth it this time around.

Will be testing it with it below the dots behind the rear view mirror. I normally don’t leave it there as I don’t cross bridges or use toll lanes often anymore. BTW, I still have the old CAV with the switch in my other car but this is what they sent me recently. Turn the dial instead of flipping the switch.
