@JasMK - can I ask what charger you have?

From what I’m reading ref people changing over from Octupus to OVO leaves me wondering if I need to do the same as I have x2 EV’s and would be better to have longer low EV charging tariff….
I have the Ohme Home Pro

Noting your profile and only see a BMW, have you used it with a Taycan? I

Question as follow up further up the thread where I’m trying to work out if I should go for the Ohme Pro or another…..

Englishtony makes me chuckle
Surely a reference?
Reminds me of The Fast Show's Swiss Tony
"Changing tariff is very much like..."
I see my fellow Lancastrian searching out the best deal

I am looking at Intelligent Octopus for the cheaper 10p night rate and 6 hours as
my Go contract ends July 13 and night time goes from 7.5p to 12p
Intelli night rate is 10p with the bonus of 2 extra hours.
Now my Audi can register like your Kona allows you to join.
Am I correct in assuming you have 2 home chargers?
Ohme and Chargepoint. I assume only one is registered with the Kona for Intelligent Octo?
I only have one 7kw home charger, Pod Point Solo Smart Charger.
Are you saying that after I have signed up to Intelli with the
Smart Meter - Audi Etron - Pod Point Solo Smart Charger combo that I could also
charge my Taycan at the 10p rate overnight rate at 7kw per hour with the Podpoint?
Or would the software recognise that it's NOT the Etron and charge me 41.64p
(I am sure I could still chuck in 12+ kw every night via the 3 pin plug and Porsche charger which would probably be enough for me anyway.)
Thanks
Ross
Neither the Kona nor the Taycan are directly controlled via Octopus, rather the Ohme charger is. Since Octopus app does not yet work fully, I simply use the Ohme charger through its native app as I always did, albeit Octopus can control it. End result is that I am on Intelli by virtue of the Ohme charger (used to charge the Kona) and get 10p for 6 hours for the whole house, including the ChargePoint home charger that I use for the Taycan.
Not sure what would happen in your case, but I think once the tariff flips over you get 10p for the 6 hour window regardless.

P.S. Englishtony is part of the email address that I had when living in the US for 17 years, nothing to do with Swiss Tony of Fast Show fame. ?

So that you DONT use the Ohme for your Taycan? Thinking if the ChargePoint is a better universal for different EV’s and am also noting that my next EV’s on order are not currently supported by Ohme/Intelligent tariff.

By the way looks like a few members on here are in the NW around Manchester, I’m just to the north.

Hi Tony, could confirm if the Ohme charger works with your Taycan, reason is that I need to ‘pull the trigger’ with a home charger purchase/install. Am currently with Octopus Energy and have two EV’s - a Tesla and the wife has a Renault, we have replacements on order, 4S and a Cupra Born. My trying to work out if I should go for the Ohme Pro, (I know the don’t support Porsche at the moment) or just stick to a basic charger, so was interested to see if you have used your Ohme on your Taycan just to charge for set times?
I do not use the Ohme to charge the Taycan, as you probably know the Ohme platform is designed to work via the API of the car manufacturer and read the battery SOC prior to deciding upon the charge required. Without this vehicle connection it will assume the car is at 0% and simply supply charge ONLY during the cheap window (the Ohme will get the cheap window directly from Octopus).
So it should work.

The ChargePoint Home is a great charger, not smart enough to work directly with Octopus, but highly configurable and very reliable, I have had mine more than 5 years.

lol, made me chuckle ?
Domestic tip!

My tip in this scenario (for those without a washer dryer).

Delay start the washing machine till cheap rate overnight.

But put switch to 'rinse hold'. It will do all the expensive heating water etc overnight - but won't leave the clothes for hours getting creased.

Then in the morning, just do the quick rinse/spin before hanging the clothes out.

I know this because I am a bit weird.
As an ex surfer / kite-surfer I study the weather / wind directions etc, and I like to get the clothes on the line with as many creases as possible 'blown out'. ?

If it was me, I don't think they need ironing, but the Ayatollah does them anyway.

Your welcome!

Ok, so another octopus customer looking to transfer to OVO Anytime. I have tried messaging and calling without much success so far, so thinking I may just start a switch, as current octopus 12p/ 44p unit rate isn’t working for me! 2 1/2 great years with octopus at 5p/ 14p kw/h but enoughs enough!

So before my leap of faith, hopefully current users can put my mind at rest,

1- I have small battery 78kw so charge every day to 100%. Get home at 6pm with 2% battery left, plug in straight away and at 7am I will have a full battery all at 10p per kw?
2- Smart meter- any likely issues with this? I have half hour readings with octopus so presume my smart meter is good for OVO ?
3- I have a pod point charger at home. Take it this has no relevance as uses the cars tech?
4- it says in faq it takes 4- 6 weeks to swop from standard tariff to the anytime tariff. People are not seeing this timeframe are they?
5- in the faq it talks about an override button to charge anytime but you’ll be charged peak rate. Can you just adjust the settings if you need to charge during the day so you still get 10p rate?

Thanks in advance.

Like you I struggled to get any response so just switched then had to wait 2 days for electric meter to be recognised by OVO, gas meter registered with them on day 1. But once meter had registered on OVO I was able link my Porsche account to the Charge Anytime App.
On your questions...
1. Couldn't guarantee this but so far I've have always got to 100% from around 9% with the 93kw battery
2. If it is a SMETS2 meter should be fine.
3. Yes it sends numerous timers and profiles to the car to manage start and stop times. I generally keep my car at 85% and it sends a profile called Enode with 85% min soc so car calls for a charge anytime it is below 85%. It then sends a series of timers to the car if I set a higher soc.
4. 2 days for me or immediately OVO was able to read my electricity smart meter.
5. Yes, I haven't had to use the override but yet. I change the profile and timers in the car to start charging process. Again I can't guarantee this would always work but so far so good.

All good. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Presuming I should have a compatible meter, but I will check this tomorrow then start switch.

I recently switched from Ecotricity to OVO Energy so that I can take advantage of the OVO ChargeAnytime 10p/KWh EV charging rate. The ChargeAnytime app seems to work mostly as expected, However, on my first, test charge with the app, the number of KWh for which I receive the 10p/KWh rate appears to be significantly lower that what my home energy monitor reported was consumed. ChargeAnytime says 17KWh vs 21.1KWh delivered. Does anyone else see such a discrepancy with OVO ChargeAnyrime?

I have had similar last week and also last night, it seems to happen when the Porsche servers are down or slow. When I got home last night the My Porsche App was struggling to connect and Charge Anytime App said car was not plugged in. So I think it is a server issue rather than an OVO issue?

Its seems OVO is a good route for EV charging at the moment. However, I'm nervous of introducing another party into the charging of my car and so, if you don't want to rely on a utility company organising the charging of the car, is there actually another decent EV electric tariff out there at the moment?

I've just had an offer from MoneySupermarket to switch to OVO Energy as there's a deal that is better than the EOn one I'm on just now.

Am I as well doing that just now with a view to getting the OVO Anytime deal added on?
