Ok, you guys were right taking the time to enjoy the car and not stretch to make it without a charge.
Because of the traffic, I couldn't drive for that long without a bathroom stop anyways.

I will say when I did finally stop, my range said 96 miles and I was only 117 miles from home -- so it is very close to being do-able.

Outside Hartford, I stopped at a 350kW EA station and was pulling 330kW!!
30% to 76% in 11-minutes and then I left.

Car is amazing -- I didn't have a Gen 1, so not able to post any comparison details.

As to why I got the car a little ways from home, they had a 2025 4S allocation when I inquired and it was a very smooth process. I don't road trip very often in my regular routine, so this was a nice extended time to get used to all the car functions in different roads and traffic scenarios. I could have done without the traffic, but 330 miles in one day was pretty fun.

Did the purchase go well?
Love their billboards on the Pike, but I’ve had bad prospective purchase experiences at their dealerships for Audi, BMW, and Porsche.
Yeah it went great. I think it really depends on the sales person. I worked with Armando.

I wanted to see if my bike can fit in a CT without taking front wheel off. They don't have a CT in the shop, but their general manager owns one. So I brought my bike in and was able to use his personal car to see if it fit. And it does!

Though I just don't really like the "business manager" who tried to push me into buying extended warranty stuff (that is provided by a third party company etc..).

Great, thanks -- I've saved his contact info should I ever be in the market for a new CT.
(Despite my consistently bad experience with Herb Chambers dealerships, one good sales person could make the difference.)

I'm surprised your bike fit into the CT with the front wheel still on -- granted, I haven't tried that yet, but the CT cargo hold is noticeably more narrow than on even our i4 (let alone our A6ar).

I'll forgive whatever the business manager tried to foist on you, since that's pretty much part of their job description!

Yeah my bike is size 52 (I’m short) so it fits perfectly!

Ah, okay, your bike is just a bit smaller that mine -- my old Klein Quantum road bike is a 52, my old Raleigh Willard 3 gravel bike is a Medium, and although both of my newer Canyon road bikes are "Small" they're really a Medium for any other brand.
What I'm probably noticing the most in the CT cargo hold is that from BB ctr to saddle top is 735mm, so from the saddle top to chain ring is pushing it for cargo hold width. Still fits just fine though, just not an excess.

Yeah it could take some wiggling around to fit bike inside. The cargo area has that weird bump inside on both sides which makes it narrower. There must be a reason ?

The reason is ... looks super wicked awesome cool!
(Although I would prefer it the tapering were less pronounced in return for more cargo room ... so, somewhat of a compromise between the actual CT and my A6ar.)

The big fat tires and suspension must go somewhere.
I'd immediately trade 8 cm of width in the cargo for thinner rear tires.
Of course some performance would be lost, but I don't really need it anyway. The space is needed more often.

But well... The Taycan is still quite practical.

If you get this later on Friday, you are probably waiting at a charger. You might also be driving 50 miles an hour with "range" on and your speed limited. Hopefully you are not by the side of the road trying to explain to the tow truck operator that their jumper cables won't quite charge your car.

My advice: don't try a 300 mile max range trip by yourself, first time you've driven the car, in what you described as "unpredictable" conditions.

On top of every other problem that could occur, be aware the car will start to limit speed, shut down functions, and otherwise loudly advise you that you are in trouble when you get under 20%. Which, if you try to drive 300 miles and it is not all downhill, you will.

Alternatively, take a loved one on a nice, short drive. Kick on the "sport" mode and accelerate faster than everyone else on the road. Then, stop at a nice restaurant and enjoy a nice meal. Try that hyper-miling exercise later.

Congrats on the new car.

Sorry, what?

I agree with everything else you said, just not sure where this came from. Been under 20% plenty of times, never noticed any loss of functionality. (OTA updates don’t work even over 80%.)
