Hi all. Just researching whether a Taycan is the right car for me. I see that BP are supposed to be rolling out 150kW charging on their forecourts. I can’t find a definitive answer to the voltage that they will be using. Presumably if 400V then the Taycan can only take advantage of this with the optional extra 150kW charger but would be able to use the full charge power without the extra charger if 800V.

Does anyone know for definite what voltage they will use? Or please correct me if I have misunderstood.

Do most people spec the optional 150kW charger? I think there are/will be enough around to justify it unless the newer ones coming along can do 800V.

It’s £300, simply spec it for peace of mind.

When I ordered mine, the dealer said everyone ticks the 150kw option box to future proof their cars.

As said above.....for the small cost, just do it.

So I emailed BP via their contact page and they replied: “Our current 150kw units are 500V”. They didn’t say about future installations.

400V

No brainer to take the 150kW DC booster as an option.

Everyone is rolling out 400V DC 150kW in UK (including Porsche)

If you don't add the option you will likely max out at 50kW (std 400V DC onboard charger) but potentially you could get more.
