Long story short: I've been without my 2020 Taycan Turbo S since mid-January of this year. It's been just about 4 months since I've been able to drive it. I had the dreaded red electrical fault and, since that time, it's been sitting at my local dealer awaiting a HV battery from Germany. I'm getting some conflicting information, but it appears that I will have a new HV battery and a working Taycan sometime between 2 to 4 weeks from now. I've been in a loaner Panamara since January.

I reached out to PCNA and, after several back and forths, was offered $12,000 and a 2 year limited warranty "in the spirit of customer satisfaction." I told the PNCA rep that this was insufficient given 1) I still don't have a date certain for the return of my car, 2) my actual out of pocket expenses are hovering right around $12,000, nevermind any "customer satisfaction" payment, and 3) I know for a fact that some members of this forum have been offered more for similar problems on cars with a drastically lower MSRP and monthly payment. PCNA's response: sorry, that's our best offer.

Before I escalate the situation, I was wondering if anyone can share similar experiences with PCNA. Specifically, I'd like to know other goodwill payment amounts others have received who have been in a similar situation. Please feel free to DM me if you don't want to post publicly. I know that PCNA often times requires signing a confidentiality agreement. Also, if anyone has gone through the arbitration process, I'm curious how that played out.

Sorry for the long post, but I'm beyond frustrated with PCNA, their lack of transparency, poor communication, and terrible customer service. All I really want is my car back in working order. I had zero issues over almost 2 years until it became a $200k+ paperweight. Thanks!

I'll DM you. PCNA probably watches these threads so better to have these discussions outside their view.

I can't help you with your problem, and I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. But I want to ask why you have to pay $12k? I'm a new owner and am nervous something is gonna happen like this at some point. Are you saying that this isn't a warranty covered issue, or is it the payments you've been making on an undrivable car? Probably the latter, but I just want to make sure.

Again, I really hope you find resolution, and soon!!

Correct, it's the latter. I'm making monthly payments on an inoperable car. I'm also paying for gas. The repairs are covered.

For those of us with 2020 Turbo S cars, this is very concerning. Can you provide more details? What was the specific problem, what was the history of the car, mileage etc., and what was the proposed resolution and why? Thanks.

What loaner vehicle did they provide you during the wait? You may want to ask your dealer for a plug in hybrid perhaps.
My sympathies for your ongoing issue.

Yes, but you are getting the use of a panamera for free, so it's not entirely a complete loss of money for you in essence. I get it that the implied loan payments on the panamera may well be lower than your Taycan. Clearly you are out of pocket for petrol and are not in the car that you would like to be in, so appreciate it that it's very disappointing for you.

I suspect in the UK you'd get a shitty audi hire car and the offer of a free mug or cap. I'd have their arm off with the goodwill gesture they've made to you. I think it's pretty generous.

I didn’t get that they’re paying you $12k…. I thought it was you paying them. Wow I never heard of that. And is the 2 year warranty an extension on the current warranty? This seems extremely generous, but maybe that’s just me.

My take...you're not going to get further by taking this public, or asking other people to break their agreements.

I'm sure if you're reasonable with them, they will be reasonable with you.

While it's absolute BS to have no car for 4 months, the 12K + additional 2 years warranty (if it's added to the end of the stock warranty) seems like a generous deal to me.

Single owner car. When collected the car, it had less than 25 miles on it. I averaged about 1,000mi/mo., so I had give or take 20,000mi on my TTS when it crapped out. Zero issues with the car over the first almost 2 years of ownership.

Came back from a short trip away where it hadn't been driven for about 4 days (it was plugged in to the Porsche wall unit while I was gone). Went to start it up and got the dreaded, red "Electrical system error, Park vehicle in a safe place." Flat bed to local dealer. They could not replicate the issue over a few days. Car back to me. First time I tried to start it, same system error. Flat bed back to local dealer. This time, they could not get the car to start either nor could they clear the error. After a few days and some back and forth between dealer and the mothership, they were told I need a new HV battery. Battery was ordered probably beginning to mid-February. Still waiting for it's arrival. I'm told the battery should arrive end of April to mid-May.

As to why the proposed solution was replacement of the entire HV battery vs. faulty cell replacement, I don't know. I know some on this forum had very similar issues and had a cell replaced vs. the entire battery. That's the story in a nutshell.

OP is paying that to the bank, and PCNA is kind of reimbursing those payments to the OP, but may be OP is still short (payments to bank is more than 12k for the months without car).

To be fair to @RoseyPSU - this is probably the same in the rest of Europe as well, so I think PCNA reimbursing you for the lease payments and the Panamera is probably a better deal than what we would've gotten.

Dang - that definitely sucks. I got the dreaded 'red error' message when I stopped at a light, and like a number of others on this forum, actually submitted a complaint to NHTSA and actually had a representative call me, since there were some 13 reports at the time. It was supposedly a software issue regarding a 'miscommunication' to one of the motors, and it was fixed by the dealer some 2 years ago. I've only got 25K miles on the car, and it's over 3 years old. Wondering if your error was the same as the ones we reported on earlier. If it was, then the dealer didn't correct it properly. The link to the thread is here:

https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/motor-control-error-and-system-error.3114/#post-43276

Let me know if this is the same problem you had. If it is, then your dealer has not diagnosed the problem properly. If it isn't, then I'm really concerned...
