Car seat in middle?

Hi everyone,

I have a Porsche Taycan with the 4-seat configuration and I’m trying to figure out child seat options to fit four adults and a baby.

Does anyone know if it’s possible (and safe/approved) to install a child car seat in the rear middle position, or are car seats only supported on the left and right rear seats?

There is no Isofix in the middle seat. Personally, I would NOT seat a child in the middle if the child is not tall enough to sit without any child seat.

The whole point of “in the middle” is to be the “safest place,” but without a proper seatbelt or connections to latch it to, it’s no longer the safest spot.

2nd safest is a side seat in the rear, last resort is front seat with the airbags turned off.

Yes, you can put a car seat in the front seat if you need to. It’s what you do in a regular cab pickup, but only with airbag off.

That said, even with the 5 seat option, you aren’t going to fit 4 adults and a baby in the car. At least not comfortably and only super slim adults.

we just got diono seats for our kids. their main selling point is it fits 3 wide on bench seats and they're low profile to fit well in sports cars with limited space. the problem with our cars is less about the middle seat and more about the hump, lack of proper latches, etc.. i'm not even sure an adult can comfortably sit in the middle "seat"

If your car has 4 seats, then you can not legally carry more than 4 people in it...

Apart from isofix missing, the middle seat is too narrow and not flat either.
You won't be happy, putting a seat there.

I've done countless trips including longer ones with 4 adults and my 8-11yr old (8 when I got the car, 11 now) with no issues or complaints

I got 2 child seats in the back of mine and nothing/no one else fits there

It really helps when there's no car seat to be fair - my daughter is on a booster rather than a car seat (and often now without anything)

Now do that same trip with a 6 month old and a full size car seat.

8-11 year olds with or without booster seats take up no space. Infant carriers or small child car seats are a whole other animal.

This isn’t new information to me, believe it or not my child was once a younger child too

Doesnt mean you had the Taycan at the time though.

Either way, doesn’t help the OP fit 5 humans in 4 seats.
