Been using these settings without issue for over a year. Normally I plug my car in after work and the car / app says ‘Charging paused’ and then at 11.30pm the car starts charging (sometimes it will start earlier if it can’t reach the target in the given charging window). A few days ago the car starts charging as soon as I plug the car in. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app, deleting the schedule and recreating it with no change. The cars PCM is showing an exactly the same as the app.

Any thoughts on what I can try next or is it a visit to the dealer?

There are so many rules that apply and your info above is not enough to diagnose.
I would say the car starts charging right away only when SoC < 20% regardless of settings.
Then when it reaches 20%, it looks for the next instructions, in your case appears to be a Timer, so it would Pause if it has more time to charge to target SoC by the time you set. And if not, then it will start charging sooner, exactly as you described, ignoring Preferred times.

There is no way to make the car charge only during Preferred Times, this is a known.

Thanks for the reply, as an example I plugged the car in yesterday at 70% when I got home about 4pm. It started charging straight away where as before it would say charging paused and then start charging at 11.30pm. I’ve changed nothing. I’m going to try a PCM factory reset later unless anyone has any suggestions.

Actually preferred charging time setting does work with J1.2.

Profiles have been collapsed into Departure Timer (advanced settings) with J1.2.

I helped a forum member recently on this and confirmed as working within the preferred times.

Can't see anything wrong with your setup and providing there are no other active departure timers set it should work as before.

How long do you wait to see if charging pause kicks in (can take a few uncomfortable minutes)?

Hi, been happening the last few days, like I said no changes and has been fine since I got the car. I waited at least half an hour before noticing it was charging. Do you think a PCM factory reset will help? Never had an issue like this on the several Taycans I’ve owned. Very strange!

The reset might help but note that this is only a soft reset of the PCM. To perform a 'cold start' you can pull the the fuse for the PCM or disconnect the 12v battery for < 5 mins to restart all 12v systems of which the PCM is one.

Try the the PCM reset first.

As an aside I doubt the dealership can offer any help either but don't rule that path out.

As long as the car has good cell connectivity then whatever you have on your app will always be mirrored on the PCM (and vice versa) as all data is held in the cloud against your Porsche Connect ID.

As this is your home charging profile I would also tick the location box (helps to auto select your settings if / when you have multiple timers) as the default.

Tried the soft PCM reset but not the hard fuse reset yet. No change, one thing that just occurred to me, the same day the issue started I updated my phone to iOS 26, can’t imagine it’s connected but I’m out of ideas now. Will try the fuse hard reset and then mention it to the dealer service department. Will just start it manually when I go to bed until it’s sorted so no big deal.

I had some strange issues. After rebooting my charger I still had issues. I had no timers nor profiles. I then noticed in the charging screen in the car that charging planner was active. So I looked at Nav and there were no trips outstanding. I concluded that previous Nav location had left my charging planner active. I googled that to find a reboot of pcm would fix it. Bingo

See screenshots attached. It works ok for me.
Profile : set a minimum charge of 25%. Thus, it will charge until 25% is reached whatever the timer is set. Then it will pause until the start time set in timer. Here 10pm to 6am. This is set for every day of the week.

This is for a J1.1 Taycan and I think the challenge is with a J1 2 which don't have the concept of profiles - now called a Departure Timer with advanced options reminiscent of Profiles.
