Thanks for clarifying, I guess my long term thinking is the myenergi solution will offer a lot of functionality when I install solar, will wait and see.
You haven't made a wrong or bad choice and good luck with your home charging ecosystem when it all comes together.

Thanks everyone, that’s all really useful Intel. My first question is definitely will I get an EVSE with the car. If there is any risk I won’t, or won’t be lent one while waiting then I’ll just get a third party one installed ~ much appreciated and sorry if I end up posting more newbie questions…. I will seek out answers before just posting something up though…

To be clear - you can't get an EVSE 'installed' on your car - It's a portable EVSE with wire tails in a bag - you can take it with you if you are going somewhere with a socket (3 pin or Commando) or just leave it in the garage if not. just like a charger for a laptop but much bigger

The third party mobile EVSE alternative is the same as that - like a lap-top charger - you can take it with or not.

The alternative to a portable/mobile EVSE is a fixed wall mounted EVSE - mounted permanently in one place - so you only need a type 2 dumb lead - no portable EVSE involved.

Your car will be supplied with AC and DC chargers on board -but you will still need an EVSE for AC charging from mains supply - the portable one normally supplied with the car is likely to be missing for current deliveries - one will arrive eventually - but you need an alternative until then..... either a fixed wall mounted or a portable EVSE with a commando socket.

So........ you just need a temporary fix until the replacement Porsche one arrives - On the QT - OPC's seem to be amenable to lending a 'spare' mobile charger with new cars until the new one arrives.

cheers

Personally, even if I didn't already have one, I'd get a 3rd party charging point installed in a convenient place at my home. The integration with the smart meter for charging when your supplier has cheap electricity, the fact it's tethered and permanently connected at home, the fact you (or friends/family) can easily use it too, the fact it works with solar and the fact I'm not 100% trusting with Porsche supplied EVSE and would rather use a company with years of experience (and PodPoint's service and warranty is good too).

I also like the fact that you can just leave the supplied Porsche one always in the car if you ever need it out and about (holidays etc).
Rather than having to disconnect it all and take it with you.

yep exactly. That’s what we do with our PHEV and will do with the Taycan

If you want flexibility in your garage or drive plus smart features Ohme do a mobile version of their wall mounted unit which complies with the latest uk regs. You don't really need the smart features as the car can do all that. I have installed 2 commando sockets in my garage position so I can use either side of the 2 car garage or charge on the drive

I only made some suggestions for you?
