Never, ever skimp on safety critical items.

You bought a 6 figure car. Running costs will be commensurate one way or another.

One quick question: How long did you drive on the cheap tires @Bamberd? I'm only asking because during one of my tire changes, as I went to test drive the new wheels (and let the newly installed wheels TMPS sync up) ABS kicked in on first moderate braking road was dry and tires - it felt like I was driving on glass. I caught me a little by surprise, but nothing dangerous as I did it with nobody behind me or in front of me, that is why I test my car every time I swap the wheels. I was a little concerned, but after a few miles the issue fixed itself, the car started handling as expected. I suspect some wheel sensor might have gotten out of sync with the computer when I was changing tires - I lift the whole car so all wheel are in the air, front ones rotate freely during changing.
New tires will have mold release on them so it’s quite normal to feel very low grip initially while that gets worn away. Usually tire shops will warn customers to expect that in the first 100mi or so or have some writing in their service notes. But many customers still get caught out thinking their new tires are going to make them a hero leaving the tire shop.

Maybe that’s part of what @Bamberd was feeling too?

Interesting. Tire shops have never warned me about this. It makes sense, and it's consistent with my experience with the latest set of tires. I wonder why I never noticed this before (I've had many new tires in my life, though most of them came with new cars as I used to swap cars often in my youth). It was a VERY pronounced effect on the Taycan with the PS4S'es, but it also only lasted maybe 10 miles of some aggressive braking/acceleration/cornering - I attributed it to Taycan stability control needing to recalibrate itself to the new tires.

I once drove a Cayman with zero tread left. In the rain it just fell off the road! Just like having cheap tyres, I am guessing.

Driving a €100K+ car and don't want to spend money on tires...
That's just plain stupid.

You are not the first one who'll crash into other cars when there's a traffic jam.
The difference in braking distance can be up to 10 meters when comparing good and cheap tires, especially in the rain.
Luckily you made the right choice to change them, good call! ??

PS And thanks for sharing, this cannot be emphasized enough!

Replaced 4 21in PZeros with Goodyear NFO at Costco £1064 .
Whenever i see someone mention costco, i always jump on line expectantly to see what's available. I've never yet found an NF0 tyre come up for me! 20 inchers.

HI mate. I drove on them for about 10 days and then just bit the bullet and swapped them out.

How do the goodyears peform in comparison??
My first Taycan had Goodyears. Far longer lasting and no noticeable difference to handling. My preferred tyre is always Goodyear or Michelin- Goodyear are far cheaper!!

I had a similar experience and realized pretty fast that saving on tires can backfire big time. I ended up doing more research and found that sites like https://pneusquebec.net/pneus-11r22-5/ have better options without going straight to the super cheap stuff. I’d rather spend a bit more than deal with the handling and safety issues again.

I have to admit I am a bit puzzled. Why does anyone think it might be a good idea to use cheap (not to confuse with inexpensive) tires on a fast/heavy and expensive car like the Taycan ? The little surface patch between tire and street is all that keeps your car connected to the ground. Longer brake distances or faster drifting away in a curve, crashes that might lead to expensive crashes or even human casualties. Especially the last one is something you might have to carry for a very long time.
