they show capacity at, among other rates, 11kw. the car wont do more than 9.6 kw
In Europe it for sure does.

At some public 11kw I have for sure gotten 11kw

And at home I get 10.2 with the Porsche charger.

Ignoring the technical aspect - but referring to the first few points raise; I was in my local Porsche dealership (UK) and the Service Agent was chatting to another customer in the same situation and the agent advised that Porsche will be compensating customers for those that have lost the 22kW as legally you've paid for the functionality and Porsche have failed to deliver.
which dealership is this please? Trying to even explain this to East London OPC is the proverbial head against wall.

I think the debate is over what you paid for that is failing the functionality. Is it just the OBC that fails to meet the spec you paid for, or is it the car that fails to meet the spec you paid for. Compensation /refund differs drastically on how you frame it. Personally I think it's the car, no different than if a battery failed on the car under warranty and Porsche decided to fit it with a smaller battery with half the capacity, and give you a refund for the difference in price between larger and smaller battery.

I think it's the car
True, IF you can't charge DC either.
Your comparison about giving you half a battery isn't a good comparison (either, again).
Half a battery is half the performance, so totally different thing, not relevant imho.

It's also highly dealer-dependent cuz some are just plain ignorant for whatever reason.
I'm feeling quite lucky with the excellent service and super nice people at Porsche Centrum Twente.

11kW OBC is half charging performance. Whether acceleration, braking, cornering, drag coefficient, or AC charging, all are performance characteristics of the car.

Agree.
I really don't understand why you are making up all these comparisons about other aspects of the car.
It's about charging, nothing else, let's call it what it is.
I think we all agree it's a downgrade and Porsche should reimburse that if you have paid for that option.

You can discuss if a reliable 11 kW OBC is a downgrade though.
Replacing it with an unreliable 19,2 kW is a downgrade as well, right? 😉
I think a 11 kW OBC isn't a downgrade at all irl, it's my own experience, like I said earlier, at least not in my country and countries around me (Belgian and Germany) but I can see why people think it's a downgrade.

I don't think we all agree on that one. You simply don't care about charging performance. You might care about acceleration for example, while others might not. So it all depends on what is important to whom.

Let me use a real example rather than comparisons, $1680 does not make my Taycan usable as it is with 22kW charger, specifically 11kW OBC would leave me without a car to drive 1-3 times a year, because on those days(typically in winter) I do a bunch of runs to the airport and other places about an hour away, with 1-2hr stops at home in between. With 22kW charger I can "fill up" at home just enough that if I start the day at 100% I'm ok all day long. With slower charging I would require another car for the later part of the day, in other words Taycan fails its purpose for which I bought it for - to be able to drive it when I need it. $1,680 does not "make the Taycan whole" for my use, I can see though that it might for you.

Not really, it's Porsche's problem to pay to replace them every couple of years, not mine. They sold me a car with particular specs, they need to keep repairing the car to those specs at least while under warranty. Arguing that halving any performance parameter of the car in lieu or reliability is an upgrade is silly. Again, you see it as "only charging" which you don't care about, therefore to you it might seem trivial. Imagine that it's about something you do care though, say the larger battery was unreliable, but one half the size would be more reliable, would you consider it a downgrade to repair your battery back to the original capacity instead of downgrading it for reliability? ;)

In summary to the few responses to my post - just relaying what I heard at Porsche Dealership in Colchester, Essex, UK. There was not a comment about how much the compensation was, just that Porsche will be paying something.

Keegs- I bought my Macan 4S from them. I found every aspect of them to be excellent. Have you found them to be sound too ?

Wivenhow - My first Taycan experience with them was good, but the second has been a mess. They botched the collection, and whenever the Taycan has ongoing issues, it usually takes 2–3 weeks before they even look at the car, at one stage I only had my car for 80 days out of 220 because they couldn't fix the problems. There’s been a management change, which seems to have improved things slightly, but I’m still having problems — the sales team isn’t honouring a service plan they previously agreed to, and they’ve also mishandled the extended warranty I just took out. (Apologies to everyone else following this thread — I realise this isn’t directly about our local dealership.)

Oh, I can tell you that for me this would be an absolute downgrade. My EVSE supplies 22 kw and gets the car juiced up in about 4 hours.

I agree with you that for the general usecase (i.e. returning from work, plugging in, picking up the car the next morning), the 11 kw OBC is sufficient.

But usually, optional extras aren't there to satisfy the average need. For that, base trims with no extras are offered.

Optional extras usually are there to quench the buyers' thirst for convenience and luxury. These may or may not be justified, but ultimately, it is at the discretion of the buyer to decide whether to dump money on these items.

In my case, I just want to have the possibility of charging at 22 kw, simply because I just want the convenience of being able to charge the car within 4 hours, shall the situation arise where I need the car filled up on short notice.

I know for a fact that it would frustrate me enormously if I encountered myself in that situation, and due to being downgraded to the 11 kw OBC, I had to plan an additional stop in some DC charging station.

Yes, this is an exceptional case, And yes, there are ways to circumvent the problem. But I simply want to pay for the convenience of NOT having to look for workarounds, and just because of that, the 22 kw OBC makes absolute sense for me.

It's absolutely necessary? Of course not. Just in the same way the 761 HP of the Turbo S aren't necessary either.

Do I want to have it, despite of not being stricly necessary? Hell yes, I do. So yeah, I do feel short-changed when the only solution offered by Porsche is to downgrade to the 11 kw OBC, get some cash and a goodie bag.

So yeah, for you, in your situation and environment, downgrading to 11 kw might be a non-issue. That, however, doesn't necessarily extend to the rest of people here. We all have different realities.

fast conclusion…. we all have different use, needs.

I only charge at work, 22kW. done in 2 or 3 hrs (or less) and then i can free the charger for someone else or use the car to go to a meeting and back. It would be totally different if I needed 4 to 6 hrs .
Agreed.
I was charging at work @22kw, and i spent less than 3 hours for 20-80% so i was able to use it for some local drives too.
Otoh, since my retirement, i don’t need 22kw anymore….and MY25 onky has 11kw anyway 🤷‍♂️

It's because the OBC which fails is not only responsible for AC charging, but also for DC charging.
There are also OBC failures where only the AC circuit fails, but it doesn't blow up, in which case the car can still be driven - no short in the module.
That’s correct. When my OBC failed on the 1st time, i’ve never charged on DC at all.
I was able to drive, no errors…just AC/DC charging doesn’t work anymore.
