Thanks Jeremy. I was aware of the previous thread but thought this video was worth its own new thread as a) it’s a new video only posted today, and b) because it has new claims.

This guy declares himself to be ‘independent, factual, and unbiased’ but all he seems to do is to to knock all brands other than Tesla and BYD. Unsurprising really since he often states he owns both Tesla and BYD stock.

I don’t know what his new claims are as I only made it to the 60% battery issues claim and turned it off.

I watched a little more and I’m still not sure.

There are numerous threads on here about early 12V battery issues, but those seem to be resolved by the time I got my car in ‘21.

And there are numerous threads about the sudden loss of power from early last summer. It seemed to affect a small number of people, but it was itself a serious problem. There was a software fix for that at the end of last summer and not really any further reports after that.

It’s silly to say “owners aren’t talking about it.” Actual issues do show up on here like the ones mentioned before or the the 22kW on-board charger failures, the 19.2kW on-board chargers not working with some newer EA charging stations, the PCM blanking out earlier this year; or the alarms randomly going off on the early ‘22 models.

So, I would reference this forum for common issues before I look at some you-tuber who doesn’t own the car and starts with the ridiculous claim that 60% of Taycans have battery issues that no one in a forum that bitches about anything and everything has mentioned anything about.

The comments under that video are full of bollix and hearsay. Not sure I can bring myself to watch!
I did it for you my man, it’s hilarious and basically he just rehash the old conspiracy even pointing out himself that main stream media did not cover it. Why? He thinks it’s because Porsche advertises with them. These people are so dumb I don’t even bother responding in real life any more.

Check out his offering from today, it made my mind up pretty quickly...even before I got to the bit where he says "it would be good for my Tesla share price". Rather than watch the video in the OP, I Googled him and got a pretty good feel for his position on Tesla v other brands.

I'm not watching it. So many to55pots on YT nowadays who think they are Jeremy Clarkson or Chris Harris or something.

We have seen way too many clickbait videos giving the (large number) of Tesla owners something to get excited about.

Someone mentioned above he says owners aren't talking about it....
Remember the Taycan oath we all swore when we joined this forum brothers - with our trousers rolled up and a dagger held to our throats.

'Never ever acknowledge any dissatisfaction about our Taycans in any form whatsoever, or thou shalt be hung, drawn and quartered. Especially don't complain about the lack of fart noises when owning what's generally acknowledged as the best EV in the world.'

click-bait - there is a difference between "some problems" and "wide spread systemic problems"…

all of the issues are legit issues - but they are not wide spread - all manufactured products can/will/do have defects that need to be addressed by their manufacturer - generally speaking that is what warranties are for…

based on forum monitoring and personal experience the Taycan does not have any major "wide spread" systemic problems - but like all things your personal instance of a Taycan may have issues that requires Porsche to resolve - most people's Taycan work fine with nothing more than software glitches

my "systemic" problems with my Taycan are as follows (2x,xxx miles so far)
  • PCM software glitches (I do not yet have the color icon update)
    • carplay issues
    • parking video feed distortion
    • various "faults" that clear themselves for no reason
    • no known method to quickly force a reboot/restart
    • list goes on and on
  • current range is in the 220 mile capacity vs. 270 miles when purchased - I'm waiting to wear out my current set of summer tires and move back to all seasons to see if this fixes the issue
    • its unclear how much of this is: aug 2021 software update, tires, battery wear/tear
  • charging schedule software is too complex and lacks start charging @ xx:yy time and a simple way to charge to xx%
  • Electrify America {facepalm}
  • soft brake pedal - but we now have replacement hardware - will be fixed on Aug. 24th
  • lack of any meaningful OTA update process as promised - vehicle still requires multi-day visits to factory service to receive system software updates
    • good thing Porsche doesn't update their software more than once a year…
  • the level of suck of the North American PMCC is too great and simply disappointing - good thing you can use other non-Porsche EVSE's…
however even though that list is longer than I'd like - nothing rises to the level of fleet wide denial and nothing is representative of the sorts of problems endemic to most vehicles being released and sold these days…in general I believe a very very very large percentage of Taycan owners have few if any problems - and the problems they do have will be resolved in a timely manner - as always there are cases where that is not true and generally speaking there are mechanisms where those issues get addressed as well…

it drives better than anything in it's class and I wouldn't trade it for any other EV 4 door sports sedan…

video is clickbait and muckraking

Youtube is full of crap like this, mostly clickbait...all proclaiming Game over! Tesla wins etc. Very biased, and lots of bullshit.

You can usually tell by the dramatic cover shot (expressive face ?) and a headline grabbing title.

Generally I now don't watch any of these vids - whatever they are talking about.

More often than not the content is opinionated drivel and they are just looking to make some easy money spouting nonsense.

Given how far this guy has fallen from any semblance of legitimate journalism, and given the timing, I think i am entitled to view it in the most adverse light possible. I think it is just a hit job from a fanboy who doesn't like that the Plaid just got beat around the Nürburgring by a Tayan Turbo S and is just trying to piss on the parade.
