Comfort Access quit working

The feature where you approach with the key in your pocket and it unlocks when you get close has stopped working.

I assumed my battery in the fob was low, but replacing it didn’t fix it.

Anyone else have this happen and how did you fix it?

My first questions would be; Is it a FoD for you? If so, is it still enabled?
Are the gestures for the frunk and trunk still working? Is it only the unlock on approach?

Nope not FoD. Yes checkbox enabled.

The other gestures work but only if I unlock it first.

Checked whether it got disabled inadvertently by long pressing both lock and unlock buttons simultaneously? Re-enable by pressing both again.

I’ll check that! It’s very likely; this started when my key slipped out of my pocket and onto the seat track. I couldn’t find it at first (and couldn’t lock the car) until I got it home and did a deep dive to find it.

Well, the buttons did not seem to reset it. I guess I will have to take it into the stealership. Sigh.

Just an idea. Try the second key to see if it behaves the same. Then may be toggle the function Expanded Comfort Access off and see if standard Comfort Access works with a key in pocket and reaching for the handle, then enable it back again and see if the walk up works. Otherwise, dealer may have to do some resetting. My only reset by dealer was the LTE module when it stopped working.

The roof is over thankfully. I do have a couple minor bits of interior damage I plan to get fixed - a dented side rail and plastic trim with scratches.

I’ll probably get an estimate on that when I take it in for comfort access.

BTW tried the spare key today, it didn’t work.

Seems like you’re at least due for some swag from your SA (didn’t know that was a thing—haven’t received any personally but the reports on here are a bit crazy)!

I take it back, the spare key magically started working for comfort access today!

Tomorrow I'll retry the original key.

Much easier to live with a key stuck at the shop waiting in the queue or on a new part, than a car stuck in the same situation.

I didn’t notice before but the original key appears to be damaged by its adventure under the seat and on the seat track. One of the silver edges is higher than the other and I can’t get it to go together as it should.

Pretty sure this is the nature of the problem.
