Hi Guys

Just switched from a 2023 base Taycan to a J1.2 2025 Base.

I like the new one better in most aspects. Range, power, faster PCM, etc

One thing I noticed is that when take a "spirited" curve, the old one would be completely stuck to the ground whereas the new one moves a little and the tires screech a little. The old one had Pirelli summer Pzero, the new one has Contis procontact Rx all season. Both on 21s spyder.

COuld it be the tires?

Regards

Absolutely, 100% without question it's the tires.

I found those Contis to be absolutely terrible and in fact dangerous when wet - I almost lost control once in a rainstorm.

Are you going the same speed in both cars on the same roads?

How many miles on the tires?
I want to eliminate that your tires are too new. Yes, they did the same thing you are describing.
I have Conti All Seasons on 21-inch and no complaints after they are broken in properly.

Tyres highly likely then.

I run Hankook iOn Evo tyres which work really well. Had Goodyears on when I bought the car - not as good in all ways, but nothing dogy on those either.

1k miles on the Contis
That is too early. I did not get any real lateral traction until about 2k miles.
Check back here at 2k miles.

Understeer, oversteer, or 4 wheel drift ?
Are the pressures correct ?
Understeer. Pressures are now correct (initially a little low, thought that was the problem, now pressures Ok but still similar issues)

Yeah. Tricky as its a new car and have a 2 yr lease. May get either the Michelin or Pirellis and then put back the Contis upon return. On the other hand this Contis are supposed to last and I only drive 6-7K miles per year.

My Contis went bald on the inner tread around 11K miles.

In temperatures above 7C most summer tyres will have more grip than any all seasons.

The new Michelin Cross Climate 3 Sport variant is looking to (slightly) upset this balance.

On a track and at the edge of performance driving - I fully agree that a summer will always be the best - but for normal (spirited) road driving, this new Michelin is proving to be quite a good tyre in the summer.

I have put these new Michelins on my F82 M4 - and they are as good as the previous Pilot Sport 5S summer tyre - for spirited road driving (or as much my skill allows).

I got a bit tired of swapping the M4 to winters (Michelin Alpine 5) each autumn and then back to summers - and these new tyres (at least in this UK summer) have been brilliant.
