Courtesy- Taycans and other Porsches are common around here and I'd bet many of the owners have them as a status symbol rather than being motoring enthusiasts. My experience is that there's a tendency in that demographic of being less considerate of and less courteous to other road users. I exclude 2-door Porsches from this (though some newish 911's are suspect). EDIT- Panameras are too rare for me to have an opinion.

Waving- when I've been in a rare car and seen another, I've waved and flashed. I'd do the same to anyone in an interesting (needn't be sporty) old car. If I saw another Taycan owner parked up, I'd go over to them if my sixth sense reckoned they might be interested. Otherwise, unless I'm already interacting with another Taycan driver on the road, I wouldn't bother...unless it was another Frozen Blue of course.

I think it depends on rarity, when I got my Model 3 in 2019 most others waved, now they are as common as muck. My hobby is classic Minis and everyone in any classic car waves. I’m collecting my GTS today and hoping the waving resumes ?
Don't forget to post some pictures. Enjoy your pick-up experience, it must be one of the best experiences as a car enthusiast. Waiting for the cover to roll back and you see her for the first time, in the flesh.

For years I've noticed a certain courtesy among Mercedes drivers (being myself one), specially on intersections, merge lanes etc. Never understood if it was conscious or subconscious but over the years, there has been a measurable positive difference between the amount of MB drivers that have let me merge lanes or given way at an intersection versus other brands. For some reason golf drivers were the opposite towards my car.

I don't have the Taycan for long (less than a month) but the other day I was picking up lunch and used a secondary road when suddently a Panamera appeared from the opposite direction. We were pretty far out to recognize each other models but we both knew the other was a Porsche by the 4 dot daylights. The Panamera flashed his high beams as it passed by to which I flashed back. I thought it was kinda nice, I don't know. I haven't noticed the same from Macans or Cayennes yet but to be fair, there aren't a lot of Porsches around here. Well kinda, I see like 3-4 a day max.

What is your experience?
Only 4 months behind the wheel of a Taycan, the only active recognition while driving I got was from a Mercedes AMG driver - he rolled down their window at a set of light to tell me he loves the car. Then again, to balance the scales, I got flipped off by another Merc driver after he challenged the Taycan to a quick red light race and found himself in the rear view mirror (though he sure did make a lot of loud engine noises). I accelerated to approximately speed limit, then slowed down into a turn lane, he went way beyond the speed limit and flipped me off when passing (took him a couple of seconds to catchup). There are all kinds of drivers out there.

Most Porsche drivers I encounter don't even make eye contact. They do generally appear to drive more carefully than average though, leaving more room in front, etc.

Oh yeah, there's all sorts of drivers. I think I have a dashcam video of an audi TT driver "making growling engine noises" while trying to overtake me by the right side on a roundabout exit... Didn't last 2 seconds ?

I hit rarely. I think my response heavily skewed by the proximity of a dealership to my house. I think more than 1/2 of the Porsches I encounter are being driven by Porsche technicians checking something or a miserable git on a test drive. The former especially discourteous I’d say.

As aside, best car by miles for courteous behaviour, being waved out of junctions etc by everyone - AM DB9.

I find that the courteous community is limited to 718, 911, Taycan and Panamera.
I can see myself relating to these more then cayenne/macan tbh. It's like suvs feel alien and rather a distant cousin then a brother.

I used to have a Lotus Elise (S1) and most of the time other Elise drivers would flash and wave. I quite liked it. My wife thought it was odd.

Not got my GTS ST yet (comes of the line tomorrow!) but like BigBob I live very close to a Porsche Dealership so lots of technicians and test drives I imagine.

Interestingly, when I drove a Macan, I got no love from the non-suv P-cars despite giving the occasional wave to them. I think the assumption is that suv drivers are not enthusiasts.

I have gotten the flash and wave from an Audi RS6 and a Lamborghini Huracan. One wave from another Taycan. I am in the US though, and Texas at that. I will say though, when I had to bring my Cayenne in, waiting in the service waiting area, the nicest guy there was driving a 991 GT3, and the most stuck up had the base Macan (woman was actually glaring at us for speaking in the waiting room).

I'm stilll waiting on my CT4S, so my response to the poll will have to wait as well.

The friendliest waves I've gotten is when I'm out in my Mazda MX-5/Miata. Almost all of them wave, whether I wave or not.

I give a wave to other Porsche/Taycan owners and in my acknowledged limited data set, I rarely get a response. As a former Jeep Wrangler owner, the Jeep community offers a much higher hit rate (estimated 90%+) with the “Jeep Wave”. The wave was fun and often helped break up longer tedious drives. I’ll just continue to acknowledge other Porsche drivers and won’t lose any sleep on a missed acknowledgement in return.
