Anyone else experience this? My drivers window glass seems to have cracked spontaneously. It's the thermal / noise insulated double paned glass.
It was tinted 5 years ago by first owner and the work is good.

The car was just sitting in a temperature controlled secured garage under a cover for 2 weeks while I was on vacation. I just got it out and saw this.

There is no possibility of impact or attempted entry. No marks on the outside on either side.

It feels smooth from either side, so I think the "inside pane" has cracked between the outer pane and the tint film.

I'm hoping the Porsche extended warranty I bought will cover it as it's not from impact, but a functional defect. I'm guessing they won't make it easy.

Any other similar experiences? Any words of wisdom on dealing with the dealer to get it covered under warranty?

Looks like it’s spidering out from an impact point. Could have happened a while ago and just now spreading because of the cold. Glass is pretty easy to pull out if your comfortable removing the door panel.

It looks like the point of where it's spreading from is below the exposed window and inside the door...

I wonder if it's because of the issues these double paned windows have in general (other threads and my experience getting stuck moving up and down)

Yes, it happened to me too.

I got it fixed when the windshield also needed replacement. Insurance covered some of the cost. It was very expensive, as I expected from Porsche. A few years back, I did a windshield replacement on a 991 911 and it was nowhere near as costly.

I briefly toyed with the idea of getting an independent shop to look at the car, but given that it was thermal glass, and with the complexity of the integrated monitoring systems that need to be calibrated after replacement, I didn't seriously consider it.
