CT alarm issue, how common is it?

Have you had issues with the alarm going off randomly?

My car has been at the dealer for 6 days now to rectify this issue… yet to hear from them.
Picked up my CT4S today and was told Porsche will issue a campaign with replacement of the faulty sensor. New part is available and had been installed on 5 cars with success by my dealer. Porsche told them to wait for the campaign and not replace any more sensors out of campaign.

The double click is the official remedy until called in for replacement....

That's reassuring, thanks. Hope I didn't bring my car in too early... would be mildly annoying to have to pick it up only to bring it back in soon after.

Got my car back today... with no sensors replaced. They couldn't replicate the issue for a whole week (typical!) so they just "recoded some modules" and gave the car back. Thankfully with a complimentary wash and full charge.

Porsche Australia say I'm the first person to report this issue... I highly doubt that. In any case, they said to log as much detail as possible next time it happens to try to identify a pattern, to give the techs a better chance of replicating the issue themselves.

What a total disappointment. First person to report it? At least in Sweden (My dealer anyway) they inform new customers upon delivery of the fault and teach you how to remedy it whilst waiting for a fix.

This is so badly handled by Porsche centrally. Dealers denying the problem or worst case are so out of tune that they don't even know about it.

Imagine anything else that we buy behaving lite this. But with a car.... just live with it.

Has anyone been able to figure out if there is any rhyme or reason to the alarm issue? I am fairly early in the game (awaiting allocation) and the alarm fault is making me second guess my choices. Based on the poll in this forum, it appears 1/3 of owners do not have this issue (granted not representative). Are options or the production time frame influencing this issue?

If I understand correctly in all threads that Porsche has solved the problem and have a new sensor. My car is going in production very soon and I am expecting to get a car without the alarm problem and with the latest PCM. I hope my assumptions will be correct. If it really bothers you that much maybe you should wait a couple of weeks and see what new owners report who take delivery of their cars that are produced now?

I managed to reproduce the false alarms 6 times on the weekend and found 2 preconditions: car locked with interior surveillance armed, and accessing the My Porsche app. If either of those conditions are not met, the alarm doesn’t go off.

I have found parking on a slope is part of causing it. At home our driveway has a slope. Any other places have been flat and never ran into the issue.

I heard a colleague today. Taycan RWD delivered two weeks ago. Alarm issue from the first night. Dealer didn’t inform him it could happen. Ended up driving to one of his relatives with a garage and parked it inside with the doors open to make it stop. The day afterwards the dealer told him how to switch the interior alarm off. He is happy with the car now but not a great first experience.

You should show them this. Well known problem, even reported on Youtube.

To make sure you won't get the alarm you can do the double click and make sure the LED located near the side mirror on the interior of the car is not flashing. This indicates your security system is not active.

That is the workaround, Porsche dealer has since been advised by head office in Germany of the fix: the interior sensor needs to be replaced. My car goes in for the new sensor in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully, they will make it a campaign soon so we can all get our cars fixed.

Mine goes in next week for the fix. Message from Porsche:

Finally, we have a solution for false alarms, which involves replacing sensors in the passenger compartment

Mine went in a couple of weeks ago and the OPC fitted a new overhead roof console module. I didn't receive any service notes or documentation around the item, not sure this is normal with Porsche for warranty items?

It's been perfect ever since so I think they've got to the bottom of this one. Hurrah!
